Default Daytime Running Lights installation?

Looks like we have a buyer for the 993. He is Canadian and there is the requirement apparently that cars in Canada have DRL's. He asked if there was the possiblility of having them installed here in the States prior to delivery in Canada.

Having never personally dealt with this kind of issue before I was hoping to find out if anyone knows of a company that does this kind of retrofit in socal, San Diego specifically? I will probably ask the local Porsche dealer in the morning, but fear the $$$ they will likely charge for the installation, if in fact they do it. Any suggestions appreciated!

There are a number of threads on this. I brought a car up to Canada from the US last year. I had the local Porsche independent specialist in Phoenix do the mod. He added the relay and ran new wires per the factory wiring diagram. It cost about $250. The relay cost might have been in addition to this. Apparently the US harnesses are different than the Canadian harnesses.

Bill,

I brought my 993C2S up from California earlier this year, to get the daylight driving lights, they "jumped" the Foglight relay, and voila, just $ 85.00, here in Calgary, it was done by a VW aftermarket shop called Concept I. My neighbour, on the other hand took his Boxter to the dealer... some $ 500.00, ough!

Cheers,

Bert
