Default Wheel offset question - Techart

To all the wheel experts out there:

I'm looking at getting a set of used Techart Formula GT wheels for my car (good price), but these are coming off a 996TT..... the rears should fit without any issues (although the Techart spec sheets suggests using 15 or 18mm spacers for the 42mm rear offset 18"x10.5"). The fronts, however, worry me. They are 18"x8.5" with a 40mm offset. I'm going to run 225 tires up front, and I have PSS-10's ride height between ROW and RS. Would this front offset be too aggressive? I really don't want to roll my fenders.....

Mike,

You should be ok I'm running that wheel. With a lower et40 of on a 8.5 I believe your mounting pt is closer in and the outside rim is sticking more towards the outside. Hmmm..... Do you know if the 996TT that you got wheels from had any rubbing issues? I don't know if the .5inch makes the difference for the 40 offset. I'm running et50 18x8 w/225 with no rubbing issues. The 225 tires are kind of stretched on a 18x8 inch wheel, I'd probably go with 235 or 245 next time.

My wheels where an option off a 04-05' 996TT and they bolted right up no spacers needed.

Thanks. I've decided to pass on the wheels. Techart recommends the 40mm front offset for the 996TT, but 50mm for 993's and NA 996's...... I think the wheel would stick out quite a bit more than stock (given the extra .5 inch width and 10mm offset). I think most other 996TT applications use the same 50mm front offset (+/- a few mm).
