This year's event will not rival the 1998 celebration of Porsche, as the Porsche factory will only have a limited involvement, not like 1998 when the factory brought out all their big guns! A bit of "insider" information let me know that the organizers dont appear to have their act together!

I will not go this time, but you guys enjoy what you can!

Cheers,

1998 C2S

NOW you tell me?

The past is past... It will be a great event even if Porsche comes up short.

I will definitely be there this year (don't have to leave for Colorado to take my son back to school until after the Historics weekend, unlike last year...)

Look forward to seeing all there...

We are going up for the whole week. Lots of things going on. Check out the Pelican Parts Tour and Winery visit on Friday - it just came up on their site.

I brought the 910 back from Thunderhill to be prettied up and displayed somewhere at Laguna with another vendor.

Somewhat related, I'm kind of a vintage "high" as I got some seat time in the car last Friday and pounded on it harder than it's been run probably ever. As it had not been running really well, I had not driven it in about a year and a half. I do not know how those guys in their day dealt with that slow and heavy steering for hours at a time at Targa Florio or double and triple stints in the endurance races.

Awesome, I cannot wait to see it in person!

Oh, and I'm kinda jealous too...

Here's the real reason why I went this year for the first time.

We went to a little local thing. Dang.

Hey Mark, Yeah this was the only reason why I went this year. I usually don't attend but I heard that the car was going to be there from the Flying Lizard emailer. I talked to Johannes Van Overbeek for awhile before the crowds got to him.

BTW, any idea if we can pick up the Historics Porscheplatz and lap stuff Saturday AM?
What if I am late? Will they burn my stuff?

Here are a couple of pix from today's thang over here near the face of the sun.
(Will post more in another thread later)

Sweet!

Jo (I call him Jo, because we are so close ) signed a poster last year at ALMS Laguna Seca and mistakenly wrote #80 next to his name... I was wearing the ultra-cool #80 Lizard t-shirt and he laughed, said he got confused.

Then, the Sunday we had breakfast with Johannes and his family at a little hole in the wall restaurant near our hotel.
Well... he was there... we were there... so we had breakfast together, right?

Just confirmed: I'm going to the Historics this year for the first time ever. There's the obvious reason, the other one is that it will be bachelor party for a Porsche nut friend of mine. We're leaving Thursday, staying in Salinas, probably not going to the Councour$ ($280 and no program, I believe?)

Somebody pick a place and time? I'm not familiar enough to do so myself. Maybe near the track after the bigger events are done, for example?
