Default Valve Cover Gasket Replacement--Replace the bolts?

Im having my upper and lower (a little leak in the lower) valve cover gaskets replaced and ordering the parts today. Replacing the uppers because at some point, they will need replaced. Should have done it with my 60k tune.

Does anyone replace the bolts as long as they are there or just keep the same ones?

6 upper, 2 lower if Im not mistaken on a 95 C4.

I think Stage III's are calling my name at the same time!!

Thanks,

I depends on how hard the bolts were tightened last time and how easy they come out. When removing mine, a lot of them were stubborn so I really buggered up some of them, while others were fine. I just went ahead and bought new ones, since stripping those would be a PITA. But in the past I was able to re-use them fine. Just depends.

6 upper, 2 lower---gasket replacement. Somewhere around 40 bolts total.

I replaced all the bolts when I replaced upper & lower gaskets two years ago. Dry as the desert under there.

Sorry, Brother Soap. I need to keep Boy Wonder walking the straight & narrow. Fibbing on Rennlist is a no-no.

My uppers and lowers are leaking like the U.S.-Mexico border. When you guys replace the gaskets, do you typically replace the covers as well? I read there's possible warpage from the engine heat. If you do elect to replace them, do you go with OEM plastic or go with billet aluminum?

I hope you're joking. Stainless bolts are weak. They break.

But perhaps you don't care since that would be Andreas' problem too.

What an A Hole! You know I can do it myself even though it may take 2 or 3 times and the motor may need to be dropped but..........

38 required. I replaced all mine about 1 year ago.

I have Stage 2s and love them...I say go for the Stage 3s...who needs to get along with their neighbors anyway?

The covers are not all that expensive and I too have heard that leaking can be more of a problem associated with warped covers.

You shouldn't have to replace the bolts if you use a good allen socket to remove them, thus preventing damage to the heads. If you use a cheap tool and they start to strip, then by all means replace them.
