Default Pressure clean engine??

I am going to a car show and would like to get the engine looking a bit better. It isn't bad but I would like to get oil deposits, crud removed. Is pressure cleaning OK? What should be covered as far as wires or electronic components? If pressure cleaning is not a good idea, what product do you suggest and again the same questions about washing away the chemicals with a garden hose. What should be covered from moisture? Thanks in advance.
