I would suggest contacting the DE Chair for your GA region (Peachstate?)

You should be able to find a shop that knows these cars from the track.
Usually a shop recommended by a PCA DE Chair/CI is pretty reputable.

I would ask this question in the Racing/DE forum...you should get a resopnse fairly quickly

Loose battery connection. I had the exact symptoms: car suddenly died without warning. Cranked fine but no start. I even posted a thread in this forum about it, just 3 or 4 months ago.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust or cat on the car?

I suspect the fuse for the fuel pump keeps blowing?

That is why you belong to PCA. Also if you find a local mechanic or even the dealer listen and verify. Beverly Hills Porsche not withstanding there are some good dealer service departments out there. The more competition the better the dealer.

And WTF about not buying a new DME Relay for a spare? They are cheap, under $25 bones on FleeBay. Simple piece of mind.

Hey Bill,
My car turned over as much as I wanted, even cranked once but died when I hit the gas. I thought the same thing... why would it even turn over? Cleaned all of the battery connections and no problems since, even on a 1000 mile road trip. Make sure to check for corrosion on the ground strap as well.

As far as mechanics... sorry, I can't really help you, as I do all of my own work. Too poor to pay a mechanic.

can't be much help on the cranking issue, but check the driver's side pax window switch. They often find themselves stuck, either in the open or close position. If either, they will run the window motor until the electricals get hot and the circut blows.

doubt the window and starting issue are related, but stranger things....

The rest of the story: - It turned out to be a freak problem. I was told that the fuel pump wiring harness under the hood had overheated due to the previous fuel pump failure and positive feed had melted and shorted to ground. Not sure if that makes any sense or not so I will not be able to explain any more.

The shop I was working with was stand up on it and did the diagnosis and repair to the wiring harness without charge. Thanks to all those that replied.

What happened is a common electrical occurrence, not sure how common on P-cars and fuel pumps but certainly not out of the ordinary for wiring of any type. Glad the shop treated you well, always nice to hear.
