Weight loss for a 993
#16
Seats make a big difference. My supple leather, full power and heat seats weighed in at 78lbs/ea on a commercial scale. The CF GT3 seats I installed weighed 14lbs each without sliders. You can get sliders at ~15lbs/ea. That's an easy 100lb loss.

the interior is a good place to start
floor carpets and the foam pads under them can be replaced w/ aluminum floor boars, add mats for street use
seats, stock leather fully electiric w/ sliders weigh ~52#ea, Recaro SPG XL w/ al. mounts and sliders ~28#ea
door cards to RS versions
lower dash to old style, steering wheel to non a/b RS version
rear seatectomy
r/r rear upholstery panels w/ foam and l/w carpet versions
sunroofectomy would remove a lot of weight up high
exhaust is another good candidate because of where the weight is at the extreme rear. r&r cat w/ cat by pass pipes
engine mounted blower & pipes, SAI if you have it(RoW don't)
front trunk
use RS washer bottle, delete stock one
remove carpeting
wheels
MY02 996 5 spokes are pretty light 18s @ 20.5/22.7#, w/ MPSC 39/42#
you can go crazy and drill the bumper backing for a few more #s

I never said they were accurate, however the RS door panels you refer to one is with and one is without speakers, which is in the list.
For accuracy I just weighed the hood struts, they each weigh (front or rear) 6oz each (total of 24oz), so you are right definatley not a lb front and rear but every oz counts.
I am working on the items I have removed from my car and will post when all weighed up

No worries... My plan is to weigh everything that comes out of my car, I will compile an accurate listing then. there is a lot of guessing when it comes to removing weight from our cars.

Here's what I did first:
1. Seats. Replace 8-way power seats (50 lbs ea.) with fixed back race seats (30 lbs ea. with sliders)
2. Cats. Replace stock cat (30 lbs) with sport cats (16 lbs).
3. Mufflers. Replace stock muffs (34 lbs total) with RSRs (19 lbs)
4. Wheels. Get some 18" wheels weighing 21F / 23 R. E.g. MY02, hollow spoke twists, etc.
5. Rear seats and seat belts. -15 lbs.

Not to be difficult or a nitpicker, but I don't think you can get 200 pounds out of the car by removing these items. The dash and battery save around 30-35 pounds. The door panels save 5-10. That means the stock carpeting and sound deadening weighs at least 150 pounds, when it doesn't weigh half that. Maybe the Motons are lighter than stock, but probably not by more than a few pounds per corner.
Not nitpicking problem at all; I appreciate the input.
I was reporting on what I was told, but the list was probably incomplete (and therefore misleading; I will edit the original post). Other changes to the car include deletion of the rear seating and belts, installation of 2 race seats instead of stock fronts, and other racy things that must have been part of the 200 lbs.
Thanks for the input (on my own car, no less!).
Thanks for the corrections
