There was a previous post about who was going to the Partsheaven Swap Meet this Sunday, June 7th, but that was a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd start a new one.

Who is planning on going?

I guess in lieu of the now long dead BAR drives this might be a decent chance to get together with fellow RL'ers and P-car owners in the Bay Area.

I have one personal request: can I please look at someone's (recent) HID installation? I am planning on doing that soon, and would like to see 1st-hand where the wires splicing is done. I know this mod is described as a piece of cake, but I find that I sometimes have 2 left hands.

p.s. Ironically I won't be bringing my p-car since I have some obligations after the meet.

 

Dang. Wish I could go, but I won't be down there till the 15th. I'll be doing my HID install then. I got a small ballast, 55W kit that should go in with no splicing, just need to replace the ground connector on the new unit with a yellow 'bullet' type so it's 'plug and play'.

 

I will be there.
We (FDM) will have a spot on the street for the swap thing... should be fun!

I have done the HID conversion and it is very easy even for two left hands. I will try and come down Sunday. if not give me a call and I will help you out.

I just visited the partsheaven website and am I the only one genuinely bothered by the animated logo of the porsche crashing into the tree? It's hard to look at...makes me cringe.

 

I'll try to be there..... again, will be without my P-car since I'll have to drop off my son with my folks first!

Never mind.... Checked their website. Starts at 7:30am but probably won't get there till 9 or so.

one of the "extras" I want is full backward compatibility, so that if I for some unknown reason ever have to go back to the standard bulb, I want to be able to do so - i.e. no cutting off the original plug.

Glad I saw this.........back from 2+ weeks in Europe and my mind still isn't wrapped around what's going on locally! Usually get there around 8-830; not really looking to buy anything, and swap meets in general now pale to the early AM chaos of pre-internet days. 20-25 years ago I'd literally have guys picking through the truck in the street while we were lined up at 5-6AM to get a space! (The old Carlsen and Automotion meets, and for those of you around back then you remember.)

No idea if I'll bring the C4S out, but parking is usually freely available for groups adjacent to Partsheaven in the businesses immediately to the West. That whole parking lot kind of forms a "Y", and the part you enter from Bernhardt is usually spoken for by R Gruppe, or the 914 guys. But the rest of it is usually pretty open.
