Default Carrera Classic wheels?

Anyone have them on a 993? I saw one thread about possibly mounting them on a NB, but it seems that fitment is not possible.

Silly, but this wheel alone makes me want a WB.

Those will fit on a NB 993, you'd probably want to add a small spacer to the fronts though.

Have you looked through the 'Who has the best looking wheels on their 993' thread?

Cheers,

Paul.

Really looking forward to seeing them, any updates?

Good idea! I did check the thread and cgfen posted his C4S with a set.

https://rennlist.com/forums/5486286-post373.html

They look pretty good on his car, though I'm not sure they would look so hot on my relatively simple C2. May just be too far out of balance. Everything keeps pointing me back to MY02's.

On the other hand, one car is this shot really jumps out at me, a similar look (though RUF 19's, instead of the Carerra's)

Like 12mm? or 7mm? Do you have a recommendation for a brand? (I've seen OEM, H&R, RUF, etc.) Or does it not really matter as long as it's hub-centric? Thanks.

Smart man!
Here is a photo of 19" CC's from an 06 Cayman we used to have.
I'd have to do some thinking regarding fitment, but i think they Cayman wheels would work well on a NB.

These look much better to my eye than the uber popular MY02's.

cheers

Craig

Thanks, if you have more pics handy that'd be great.

Here are a couple more of the RUF-shod car above from last year's CanAm.

The offsets on the 18" Carrera III's are 57 and 58- forgot which is front and which is rear, but I think the fronts are 58. OE for the 993 was either 50 or 52. IIRC, H&R has an 8mm hub-centric that will get you back to the OE spacing in the front, but you'd still be a bit wider than OE (65mm vs 57) in the back, which will fill out the rear fenders moreso than the spaced out fronts. If your 993 is lowered, you really can't go with more tire width than a 265 on the rear with the Carrerra III's without rolling the fenders.

I was trying to find a 12mm hubcentric spacer for the front to effectively increase the track by about the same amount as the rear after installing 235's up front. Is the 12mm available through Porsche or Ruf?

BTW, I weighed the Carrera III's a while back and posted the exact weights. They are a couple pounds heavier than MY02's.

While I like the MY02's OK, the spokes a little too slender for my taste, so I went with Technology's. The III's spoke thickness look more proportional than the MY02's to my eye.

Jason - need to help you here - that car was pretty dirty on those CamAm drives.

Here one from the back yard:

Oops - it is also in the signature .....

I really like the Carrera Classics, but fitting them to a NB is tricky. The MY02 fitment is much easier.

Thanks for all the input. I am leaning back toward MY02's.

-Easier fitment, less cost/weight/complexity due to lack of spacers
-Much cheaper tires (~90% cost increase going from 18's to 19's, I didn't realize the extent of the price difference)
-As I have an early '95 the VIN TSB issue with the steering rack and 18's is still in the back of my mind...

On the other hand, looking at Hans' car it's difficult to ignore the visual impact that 19's have, but I will probably go with the more practical choice.

There is a set of these wheels up on eBay right now. The seller seems to be pretty good, from what I can see they would be my preference for buying on eBay these days. I have a feeling the seller is the department that handles 1010 Tires overstock, based on their name. They actually respond to IM's! I asked about purchasing the wheels sans tires and the price I was quoted was $1,250, shipped.

EDIT: I just checked the auction to post the link here and they are now gone, hope someone here got them.
