Possible bad news in 993 parts world
I've been in email contact with Gert to try to get a Group Buy going on OEM shifters and ebrakes.
Unfortunately this will not be able to occur.
The bad news is that there will be a price increase in the VERY near future.
In addition, there is no stock for the Aluminum/Leather 993 version in Classic Grey. With a 4-6 week order time, I would be subject to the new pricing.
Just thought other's on the Forum might want to hear about this, especially as I think the price increase may be on all parts.
Anyone have, or know of, an Aluminum and Classic Grey leather Shifter and e-brake they would like to sell or could source for me? I'll even consider one from the LA Parts yard if someone can physically go there to scope it out.

Russ,
Sorry for the trouble on your parts... that stinks.
The price increase is only on the interior pieces you were looking for or other stuff also? Any onther info on the rumor?

That stinks. Unfortunately, it is inevitable that parts prices for 993s would have to go up. It has happened with each 911 a couple of iterations later. 993s are driven less, so there is less demand for parts and those that need them have to pay the prices because there are so few sources....

Just a thought but have you tried MS Road and Race? Might want to give him a call... he has had a variety of NOS parts over the years. http://www.msroadrace.com/

MarkD - Thanks for the reference, I'll check them out.
Here is a copy of Gert's response to my question about the price increase issue:

Hi Russ,
It’s hard to tell.
Normal parts will increase with at least 4% but I can’t tell yet for Tequipment stuff like shifters and handbrakes.
Hopefully those remain the same price.
The Germans have a strange way trying to solve boost the economy.
Whereas everyone starts to discount, they increase their prices…. L.
We’ll see early next week.
Regards,
Gert.

No question that Porsche begins to phase out parts once the cars become 10 years old. Hard parts may be around the longest but try to buy a 993 owners manual or interior parts. I can get most parts from the factory for my 1966 Mercedes 230SL, but not for the 1973 Porsche. Porsche is small by automaker standards and seems to only support the current cars. And they are arrogant. After many dealings with them, I'd say they generally support their products only until the warranty expires.
