[QUOTE=Flying Finn;6588761]That's so ****ing cool!
(sorry mods but when describing authentic, 3000 mile riviera blue 993 RS, "friggin" or "so" just doesn't do justice.

I suppose the only 'repairs' they are probably doing is inflating the tire pressure before it goes go back to hibernation for another year.

So, for those who are interested...

I was driving to work today and saw the RS at the 76 station AGAIN. I flipped a bitch and went back there. There was a guy "Robert" who brought the car in. He said that the car was there to get ready for emissions testing. There you go. Mystery solved. He also said that he drove it up to Santa Barbara this past weekend. I wonder if anyone saw it???

I looked and the odometer was in KM, and at about 3600. Also noticed that the car had some sort of integrated fire extinguishing system, with a switch where the headlight levelers would be. Interesting.

Anyway, just thought I'd give you all an update on why the car was being "repaired" at the 76 station.

If you can't buy one , build one. It's very doable, just won't have the credentials.

Well when i was shopping for a chassis, to get a pedigreed 993RS to this side of tthe pond and legally on the street was going to be well north of $100k, then I though would I want to take such a car to the track? enjoy it around town?, answer probably not.

A mongrel chassis done up right is going to be as much fun and certainly fewer worries for maybe a bit more than 1/2 the cost.

Interesting post. The maritime blue RS of Seinfeld's is the first of four "basic" versions imported for road use in North America. Interestly 5 "clubsport" models exist however none are DOT compliant for road use although I hear one does get used on the road. The second to get imported was my yellow one, followed by a red, and finally a silver example. No others are noted as imported based on DOT records for 95-96 RS cars.

You sure it is Maritime? It definitely looked like Riviera to me.

I just joined Rennlist and I hope Monique can read this. As this topic of guessing if Jerry's car is authentic or not, I have a supposedly 993 RS in my garage that a friend assigned me as custodian. The VIN# is above the range as listed in the V page of the Porsche manual. But it has all what was described above and even a VIN# except the last two digits. I hope someone can clarify.
