Smile In a very short amount of time...

you'll have spent lots of money and will still not have the real deal. As mentioned in the string, you get a lot more for your money if you purchase a 993 RS or 993 RS CS in Europe.

As has been mentioned, the gear box alone will be at least $10,000 US. The 3.8 conversion wont be cheap either.

The 993 RS suspension is 1995....not 2009. You would be rebuilding a car with older technology.

Here is a fun suggestion if you want to build a clone:
1, Get a GT3 engine and tranny, now you have 400HP, 100 more than a RS. You need to do a little plumbing
2. Do a full ERP suspension update including ERP monoballs, add the EVO uprights and tie rods
3. Add JIC/Cross or some other modern suspension
4. Buy the factory 993 RS aero kit from Gert www.carnewal.com

The extra 100 HP will make up for the added weight of the standard 993 car. You wont need an aluminum hood, thin glass, etc.

Just trying to help!

It still won't be an RS though!.....part of the charm is that it is not totally up to date, just over engineered. I have never really felt the need for much more power either.

Having said that, having driven 996 GT3RS & 997 GT3, the way the engines rev was sublime, it would be interesting to see a conversion,I have seen 9M's monster in action,,,,not sure about the idea of adding water cooling to a 993 though. I even empty the washer bottle so that it is an H2O free zone.

I haven't gone through all the posts, and it's pretty known to everyone here I bought one that is more of an extension of the RS than a re-creation.

Ultimately, what's the point? Authenticity (like my cousin did with the 910, now the 907K's)? All those nit picky, unobtainable details are obscenely expensive and are only really there to satisfy your psyche and "impress" the guys at the concours/car meet. Performance? It isn't even funny how much further you can go when working with one of our experts and quality performance and race parts.

Bottom line is that you'll have more money tied up in a somewhat illiquid car that isn't any quicker or comfortable than, say, a GT3. But not all of us want a GT3, so messing with the final extension of the original design do just fine!

Exactly. If you want an RS museum piece to rub with a microfiber towel in your garage, just save your pennies and get a real RS. If you want a warmed-up 993, there are all kinds of mods that'll get you there, in any fashion you want.
