Default 997 values compared to 993 values

http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/ctd/1162553975.html

With 997's getting into the $30's and 996's in the teens, will 993's keep holding the $25-$35 range?

I'd say yes.

I was comparing this recently too when I was looking for a 996 track car. It seemed the price of a good 996 was getting close to an early 997 and maybe worth the extra $5k or so. I think the 997.2 is going to help push the prices down.

I never really found a super cheap 996 and a few that I looked at were rough. Even though it's a track car I still want something decent.

I would bet that the 993's will continue to hold there own. If a dealer is selling a 997 for 36K, think what he paid for it at the auction he probably bought it at...maybe high 20's?

I wish 993 values would just tank and emotionally bankrupt all those who are so concerned about the price of some metal and rubber compared to some other metal and rubber.

The dealer dumping for a loss or dealer stealing it as a trade are more likely scenarios.

I wish they'd tank so I could add to my Porsche collection! Although thruthfully I don't wish a drop in values on any other Porsche driver, as my 964 has probably lost $5k+ in the 3 years I've had it

I have about $50k into my 993 and its probably worth somethere about $30k. Take my $700 a year for insurance, x that by 7 years===$55k

So holding the value doesnt mean much when I have already pissed $25k away. Whats another $10k loss when I have no plans on selling it? Means nothing to me because its just a car. To some it might be a "collectible" but to me its 1 in 561,000 people in the US share the same grin I do each time they drive their 95 C4 993.

Loss leader is a common practice with the Ad designed to generate calls and will already be sold probably to a good friend of the Dealer with a kick-back.

Very true, I started to look again and the price is close to $45k. Which still isn't bad for a 997.

You are right about insurance. And license plate stickers too.

+1. But I think the 993 will hold its value better than the other models. Old-school air cooling plus sexy shape equals higher demand?

That car is about $28-31K at auction. So asking $36,995 leaves enough room to earn a few thousand.

I'm on the search again, but due to the recession I am going at it differently. I am about to unload a 69 Camaro SS that I am in to for very little which I will try to attach a photo of. I have been offered a 63 Vette Stingray Convertible for $30k that I may bite at, but neither of these are what I want. So I hope to find a 993 owner that needs to dump the way I am finding these other collectibles.
