Hi guys,

quite interesting, the company who manufacture those bucket seats is" BORDER motorseats co ltd" based in Taiwan, i now as I am salling those seats world wide, it is by looking for carbon seats for my 964, that I found them 3 years ago and decided that it will be a good idea to start a businees with them as I thought there is a lack for our cars, they first had the GT3 replica, SP-1( like RS , spg) quite narrow, SP-3 slitly higher on lap sides and SP-3 larger for big guys, they also had the SP-4 quite narrow( like spg) with FIA homologuation only in carbon, I developed recently with them the SP-5 for those of us who like a bit of confort and drive to tracks and do not want to use a shoe horn to get in, or cary a tape measure to see if the copilot will fit or wait for a cab; those are salling like "hot croissants", they all can be made in fiber glass, Carbon (gloss or matt) or kevlar ,covers come in fabric 3 colours, leather 24 colours , leather/suede (like Alcantara) there are of a very good quality and are very easy to fit into the car, they have more support on the shoulders than the PP (as I have them in my car), I until now only have happy costumers, et voila! great bucket seats for great value, you are not paying for a brand just an expensive shipping.

These seats sure look great. I wonder how safe they are in a crash though...

Those look pretty good except I'm not too fond of the slots for fore/aft adjustment on the seats. IMHO if these have certification then there is no reason not to consider these just b/c they don't have a famous name on it. Just b/c a product is labeled Made in China or Made in Taiwan doesn't necessarily mean "low quality"...there is a lot of high quality components coming out of non-Japan/Korea asia (not just electrical). Even U.S. car makers have wheels made in China and automakers are notorious for being paranoid of lawsuits. Another example is swiss watch makers....you would be surprised how much of that $10k watch is preassembled in China with final assemble in Switzerland so they can be legally labelled "swiss made". They will even send Chinese assemblers to Switzerland on a temporary basis

That matte carbon is hot

In light of the world economy, I am trying to make an effort to spend money on domestic goods more. But, yes, buying Asian does not mean buying low quality anymore. My company has plants in China (which my plant is taking business back from this year).

So if I am reading this correctly, the SP-5 is slightly larger than the SP-3, but smaller than the SP-4 correct? How does the size compare with a pole position? Will the SP-5 be FIA approved? What is the price range of this seat?

THanks

hi there,

the SP-3 is more or less the same measures as the SP-4C FIA (orange on picture), only the sides by the laps are taller by 2 cm and it is declined on a large version SP-3 large, I just send a pair for a man who was 100 kg and measures 1,90 cm. All buckets are made the same way, only SP-4 have been sent to pass homologuation test for obvious financial reason and final cost. The SP-5 is similar to PP at the thighs hip and ribs but better at the shoulbers as slitly more foward so more support specialy when made in leather, I know I have them in my car (as the black one on the pictures) PM me if you would like a quote.
