Default Show of hands for modifying tiptronic final drive

Guys

I've been talking to some companies about the possibility of lowering the final drive on a tiptronic 993/964. As far as we know - no such product exists - no one makes it.

One of the companies expressed that the idea could be considered if enough people where interested and where willing to put down a deposit for the item.

So who would be seriously interested (considering the price was right, etc) ? I'd like to get some data for the company and see if any of the companies would be interested in such a venture.

Cheers

I should know this, but I don't. What would it do?

The final drive of a drive train is made up of a ring and pinion gear, and is the final gearing before the rear wheels. The final drive on 993 tip is 3.56:1. If we go up in ratio gearing (i.e 3.56 - 3.9) - we would improve acceleration.

I would think you'd need at least ten to make a run of ring and pinions -- then there is installation -- I like the idea, just not certain you'll get enough interest.

I know what ring and pinions cost to manufacture in low quantities

More acceleration would be super dandy.

This comes at the cost of reducing top speed, right? Which very few would ever care about.

Any idea on how much acceleration would be gained?

I'd definitely be interested, but need to understand the impact on engine life (if any).

I read ... if I were to spend significant time and money I would convert to a six speed.

I would consider it for my tip cab if the mod was priced at HK$8k or less...not really looking to spend ridiculous money on her as I think I may sell her
