Here are my exact words from page 1 of this thread..."I said I would rather have a C2S than a turbo and others feel the same way. Not all, not most, but some."
Here are his..."I just posted a poll; we'll see what the board thinks of your idea that the C2S is more preferable than a 993TT."
Are they the same or different - you decide.

Not meaning to be a wiseguy but I love these "what would you rather have polls."
I had a 95 993 which I absolutly loved. I had a 1973S and a 1974S. I had an 80SC loved them all.
Have driven and like very much GT2,Gt3 - but for what I still consider reasonable value the 993tt is hard to beat. My car is currently undergoing extensive modification and I can't wait to get it back.
The C2S is a beautiful car but (understanding I am a bit prejudiced) how anyone assuming money was not the issue would prefer a car with less brakes and power I just don't understand. That said, I certainly respect those that might prefer the C2S over the turbo but sorry I can't relate.
On another note great to have Old Guy back in the mix

Mikey I have been here the whole time just over in the GT3 area. I would rather have a 997 GT3 than a 993 TT. But the perfect world would be a 993 of some sort in one bay and my 997 GT3 or 997 TT in the other.

The 996TT is lacking so much that the air cooled cars offer. I would be bored with a 996TT in no time flat. IMO to easy to drive and too many electronics. Although you can't argue with the price.
There isn't a snow ***** chance in hell that a C2S will be more collectible than a 993TTS.

You would take a 996TT over a 993TT. Why?

Old Guy - Hey Paul can't blame you on the new GT3. But no need to spend the big bucks on a 997tt - just find yourself a nice 993tt.

As far as burgers go, I can't speak for 5 Guys, but:
In-N-Out - Pretty good, very cheap. Fries sorta suck
Fatburger - cool once, now overpriced. Around $9! on my last and final trip there
Whataburger- the quintessential "Texas burger" featuring mustard rather than ketchup. Pretty good, but sort of cafeteria-like
Little Tavern - Washington DC's version of White Castle. "Buy 'em by the bag." Seems like 60% burger 40% onions...and that's a good thing! Kept warm in a steamer, I think. This might be my favorite, although they may be basically out of business at this point.
It seems like there is a strong emotional connection with "the burger you gre up with," so I don't think anyone else can tell you what's "best."

When talking collectible cars many factors come into play.
Currently the going rate of a C2S is relatively high for a decent example with low mileage compared to its MSRP. A similar TT sells for less of its MSRP. This is due to the larger number produced. However, given time I think either car in pristine condition and low mileage will be valuable in years to come. That is unless some car manufacturer has the ability to build a car that offers what these cars did with today's restrictions and electronics which is not possible.
In either case the biggest issue is that too many of both were manufactured to put them in a true collectible category. This is why I say the TTS is the most likely to appreciate. Other factors that come into play is previous history, color combo, options, mileage etc. The biggest impact other than the economy regarding all of these cars is the current market values and mass numbers of 996's available. Not everyone appreciates what the air cooled cars truly mean to people like us. So when you can pick up a 996TT for $40+k it is a quite attractive deal. Although being a purist (snob) whatever you want to call me the newer cars can't hold a candle to the driving experience these cars offer. So at double/triple/quadruple the price i would still buy a 964/993 over the newer cars even if they aren't as fast or as easy to drive.
The fact is they are both great. If you like the widebody without the turbo the C2S/C4S is the car for you if you like the boost bong than the turbo is definitely a rush albeit a bit refined for my tastes.
If I were to own a 993 it would be a 993TT with GT2 modifications, and that means rwd only for me.

fwiw, and imho, I don't think anyone buys these cars with the idea that they will gain value. Unless maybe you're are a specialty dealer. Or a collector; but then you'll go after only certain rarities or color combos, etc.. and never drive the damn thing.
The fact that they do hold value more than many current cars is just an added benefit. They're great to drive, track, own, work on, etc.. And that's basically it.
And so we talk about that added benefit which is somewhat meaningless in reference to why we bought the car in the first place.
I'm guessing if we all had 997s then we'd be arguing about the decline in pricing. Or, if looking to buy used 997s, that added benefit

I'd say the 993 has been a better investment than stocks if you look at the percentage drop over the last 2 years. But these are strange times we're in, not something one should expect to continue long term. I never think of any car as an investment; at least the ones that I can afford.

Drive what YOU like....geez, you'll never get a consensus here ! 3.6T is better than a 993TT or 993TT is better than a C2S or C4S is better than ...blah blah blah ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
