I'm not sure why on earth one would choose the old suspension over the new (which certainly can be aligned). Ditto, the "barn door airflow meter" over the later mass airflow.
In my country the 964 vs 993 dilemma is not an issue because the price gap is HUGE
You have to pay here 25-30k U$S more for a normal 993 compared to a normal 964.(45-50K vs 70-75K)
With 25K U$S you can do a lot of things in Argentina, most people´s annual salary is lower than 25.000 dollars

I know what you mean, I have friends in IT here who have team members in Argentina. There's quite a salary gap for the same work being performed.
Thanks N51 I was thinking the same thing alittle off putting but to each their own. Anyway, I got to drive a 96 993 coupe today that was an amazing car. It had 20k miles asking 39k from someone's private collection that was sold to a dealer in Hollywood,Ca. Anyway seriously the car looked and drove like it was brand spanking new. Now to the issue as to why I don't think it was for me.
The color was White but it did have black Techart wheels and the original cup wheels but the real kicker is that it has the Tiptronic tranny! Even though it was white I could get past that most likely although Silver or black is my preference but the Tip just took some of the driving experience away for me. He had all the maintenance records with plenty of oil changes mainly and minor other stuff but even with the 20k miles it looks like it only had 2 miles on it, the car was that good. Of course the wife was all for the Tip since she could drive it also.
Oh well I will keep searching and find the right one for me whether it be a 993 or 964.
White is the new Silver. But I'd wait for a 6 speed...
And teach your wife to drive it............ Whenever Karen takes the C4S up to Petaluma for me once in awhile to the business up there to collect mail and print invoices she comes back in a happy mood. The yellow car? Can't even get her to sit in the driver's seat.
Uhhh, the Yellow Zonker ...Brings back great memories! Like me not being able to catch Kim at Laguna Seca. Great watching him shrink in the distance, though

To each his own.
To be honest. I don't see any advantage and not worth the extra $$. I also prefer the looks of the 964 over the 993 although I like the 993 too just not as much. To each their own.
If there was a clear advantage of the 993 rear suspension I would agree but I have driven both cars extensively at the limit both stock and modified. I find it hard to tell the difference although the 964 is a bit more raw, but I like that about it. A few of my friends had 993C4's and they had nothing but rear suspension issues. I like the 993 I just don't see it as anything more than a re-skinned 964 with some changes that I would modify on either car. When I purchased my 94 turbo I was looking at 993TT's also, I clearly would take my 964 turbo hands down over any 993 model except possibly a factory 993GT2 EVO. To bad they aren't street legal in this country.
Like I said they are both very similar cars and for the same $$ as a 993 you can buy a 964 modify it (if not already done) and leave a stock 993 in your rear view mirror.
To be honest a nicely set up 996 will dust our cars but I have to draw the line somewhere and it isn't the water cooling that turns me off. But for the $$ you can make one hell of a track car that would make either of our cars have to fight to keep up with.
You've renewed another reason not to buy a 993. The constant prodding of membership to Rennlist. Endemic to this particular forum.
Whether or not someone is a member is not the topic. Nor should it be.
Thats a reason NOT to buy a 993? And I renewed it! Awesome! And its endemic to this particular forum? Thats great news.
I dont see any issue with reminding folks about the benefits they receive by supporting rennlist. Without this site - many first time porsche buyers would be lost for information on how to properly maintain or upgrade their vehicles.
Im going to keep reminding folks - thanks so much!
I'll have to disagree with you somewhat 177mhp. The purpose of a forum is for a meeting place to gather information and share ideas, there are tons of forums out there that don't charge a dime.
That being said yes I will join for a paid membership once I do find and buy a Porsche!! So yes I do believe in supporting a forum and information on maintaining and upgrading their cars but only after you actually own one correct. This forum obviously allows for people to ask questions at no charge as most every forum out there so I hope that we are not "stuck up" enough on ourselves otherwise.
The people here after been kind and gracious enough to give me and other information in order to make an informed decision on which Porsche to buy, I don't think I should have to pay for that information!

Im glad you are getting info from all the folks here. Its a great site. You dont HAVE to pay to get the information from others. But Rennlist offers a fairly unique experience of people who really know alot about the Porsche marque. The folks (or company) who run the site - are obviously spending money to keep it running - so why not support them by getting a membership? Its not a lot of money for the amount of info you get back.
