Default Fresh alignment

I took the Dung Beetle in for an alignment this morning (and yes, it rained the entire time). It's been three years and around 9,000 miles since the last one. As before, I sought out Taylor Chapman, who's now with German Auto Group in Springfield, VA. I've been very pleased with how the car handled over these last few years, so my only change was to go a tad more conservative on some of the numbers. I was able to get 13,000 miles out of the first set of Continental SportContact2 tires, and just recently installed a new set of the same.

Since this question invariably comes up, I'll post the numbers here.

Front Left:
Camber -0.7*
Caster 4.9*
Toe 0.04*

Front Right:
Camber -0.7*
Caster 5.1*
Toe 0.04*

Rear Left:
Camber -1.4*
Toe 0.09*

Rear Right:

Camber -1.4*
Toe 0.11*

I am confident you arrived early to clean the undersides of the alignment machines, right?

Wonder if the wheel targets left dirty spots on your wheels?

Negative. It's just a stupid car. What's a little grime?

Bill,
The machine does not ask for KT, so he set it using the Autometrics tool. To be perfectly honest, I did not note the value.

Andreas I have to get my alignment done after the car goes back together. I have installed all new ROW M030 springs, shocks and sways. Is your setup for street driving only? I ask as I do not DE or track my car. I am under the assumption you do the same.

Hi Andreas, I will be faced with doing an alignment very soon, this information is extremely timely. Thank you for the data. Can you please share with me the following:

What ride height is the DB running at
How did you arrive at the camber, toe and caster values/settings
What does the asterisk after each value mean
What is the KT

I apologize in advance if there are stupid questions.

TIA

Street only.

I track my '01 4Runner.

Bob,
I initially installed the suspension using Jeff's (InTheAir) Rennlist DIY, but it's been a few years. I can measure at the suspension points this weekend and report back.

The values are a mild tweaking of what was set three years ago - and those were values that the tech felt were appropriate for my usage.

The asterisk denotes 'degrees'.

KT is Kinematic Toe - a setting for the rear.

Thanks Andreas, I am using the same DIY with supplemental information from ViperBob. I would have completed the suspension install weeks ago if I had not stumbled upon "cleaning up the undercarrage" thing...

Thanks again, me thinks....

Here's mine, car drives much better now.

Front Left:
Camber -1.44*
Caster 5.53*
Toe 1.8mm

Front Right:
Camber -1.43*
Caster 5.52*
Toe 1.8mm

Rear Left:
Camber -1.71*
Toe 1.9mm

Rear Right:
Camber -1.71*
Toe 1.9mm

These settings are for street + occasional DE (some additional wear to be expected, offset by increased performance.) Not sure about KT, the shop has the tooling and set it to spec. They also said they could have gone for a bit more Caster but the wheels would have been set too far forward in the wheelwells, so they backed off a bit. They set the ride height to ROW Sport: 144mm(F) & 127mm(R).

Corner balance:
LF 639
RF 639
LR 1017
RR 931

LEFT 1656 51.3%
REAR 1948 60.4%
CROSS 1656 51.3%
RIGHT 1570 48.7%

3210 TOTAL WEIGHT (180LBS Driver)

Curious, had it changed settings from before? I know people say these cars have a way of working themselves out of alignment, specifically the toe.

New tires, fresh alignment, all that bloody cleaning, are you finally done for a while? Must be as close to a new 993 as possible, maybe even better!

BTW, we all know that the drive in the rain must have hurt just a bit.
