Default Oil change made a little easier

I bought an oil extractor to change the oil on my MB and it worked so well I tried it on the 993 over the weekend. I was able to remove most of the oil in the tank, which made removing the drain plug much less exciting and not as messy. When the oil tank drain plug was removed less than ½ a qt. of oil came out.

Don't forget the sump drain.

I've been using an extractor for years on my boats/jetskis and they come in very handy any time you need to 'suck' fluids (tranny, brake, oil, etc.). I know mine won't hold 10+ quarts, but it's still a good way to drain the tank and minimize the chances of a mess.

WOW! Never heard of one, but I am SOLD on it.

A couple of quick questions, it is available at any local boating store or are there better offers online?

Does it require fitting a longer extension tube or is that tube the one that came with it?

Thanks!

That's how all the MB dealers change oil. Which reminds me that I have to buy a topsider soon to do my Service A ( nothing but a glorified MB oil change)

How much oil came out of the drain under the engine?

Having just changed my oil this weekend, I'm up for any time-saving device. But for me the biggest time suck is the filters and removing the skirt, fender liner and heat duct to get to those buggers. You are right though, a bunch of oil does stream out of the tank and I usually do splash a bunch around.

I have that extractor, used it on my MB Wagon. You can get it at Griot's.

I have a $5 pump that you can get at big box auto stores or walmart that goes on my drill. It takes about 10 minutes to suck most the oil into a drain pan.
