Default Pricing advice C4S ?

Hi,
I'm reluctantly considering selling my '97 C4S due to the fact that beginning this summer, I'm going to Europe on a 2+ yr work assignment.

Trying to figure out 'true market price' and determine if it's enough to part with my baby...

Short facts:
1997 993 C4S 6spd
All original
Fully serviced (documented) and clean carfax (ie, no issues)
72k miles
Black Metallic/Beige Leather
Sunroof, Motorsound, CD, HiFi, and lots of other factory options.
Michelin Pilots (1000 miles)
sum: well kept, well serviced, non-molested C4S

Appreciate any thoughtful advice on price point.

Thanks!

/SwedeCT (CT)

ps. Before some of you reply with 'bring it with you', etc...I'm considering bringing the car, but as both my wife and I will need daily drivers, and I know I won't get much time to drive the 993 (and there are a number of other things being shipped over, etc)...and to have it there and drive it 200 miles per year doesnt make sense to me at this point.

I would store it for 2 years if you plan on returning to the US. Or have a family member drive it for you till you return. Good luck.

If you don't need the $$, it may be worth more in a couple of years when you return. As stated above, have someone you trust start and drive it occasionally and if you decide to sell it when you get back, you could be selling in a firmer market. You'll get bottom feeders now.

Take it to Europe and sell it there.
US dollar is still very weak against Euro.
Clean, nice cars like yours go for around 45K-50K Euro (that is over $60K).
You will not sell it here for much more than $40K in the current market...

NO! Don't take it to Germany and sell it. Leave it here. I may have to start a shelter for 993's so they don't go back to Germany.

I'd bring it overseas with you if it fits the regulations over there. I've shipped my last two cars from the U.S. to Dubai and it was an easy process. PM me if you need advice or assistance...

+1 but dependent upon which country you will be moving to in Europe - Taxes in Germany are very high but if you are going to Switzerland then it's another story

Remorse will set in if you do sell it, so don't and store it for the duration.

If its any help - I was trying to sell my 97 black 4S with less miles than yours (50k even) and sports seats at 42k and got 0 bites. Not a single person came to see the car.

But thats probably not much help...

Tax is not applicable if the car is used for personal use

FWIW. Just paid $43,200 for a beautiful '98 C4S with 33,700 miles. When I was looking, I found a couple with miles around 50K that could have been bought for mid to high 30's.

Mid-30's? S models or just regular carreras? I would think that prices havent dropped that badly...

I have been looking around for a month or so. Here is a comparable data point for reference. Prices are continuing to trend down.
