I have been looking around for a month or so. Here is a comparable data point for reference. Prices are continuing to trend down.

C4S models.....one was a one owner with right around 50k miles. There are some desperate people out there right now.

I would not call them desperate, they are realistic...
A few weeks ago I paid low 30's for my 97 C2S with 80k miles (excellent condition, top-end engine rebuild, complete service history, etc).
My car was listed at $40K but after couple of months PO decided to lower his asking price and I bought the car right away.

There are quite a few low mileage S cars that have been sitting listed in the $45-50K range for a over a year now...

I would say they are desperate and realistic. The desperation brings reality to their situation.....need to price the car right for it to sell in today's market. If they weren't desperate for cash or to get out of a loan payment, they would hold for now and not sell until the market recovers. The prices on the C4S and C2S will come up again in due time. They are limited production cars and they aren't making any more!

I agree - but I think there are still c4S's with 50k miles selling for over 40k. In fact there's one one this very list. So I dont think there are a lot of S models in the 30's unless they have high miles - or as you said - the owners are desperate.

Appreciate any thoughtful advice on price point.

Ive been watching the C4S market, as a potential buyer, for about 8 months now. I would peg your asking price at around $40-41K and your sale price between $38-39K.

Your color combination is very desirable, which is a plus. Service history is also big.

Now, before you all go jumping down my throat as a "biased buyer," ( ) searches of the usual sources will reveal several examples (not just the single, random, crazy deal) of lesser color combinations and similar miles trading hands for mid-$30K's.

Narrow body 993's, especially the non-Varioram cars, are asking consistent high-$20K's.

Cars, houses, stocks... bad time to sell anything right now.

Although the cars keep getting older as years go by and (if being used) the mileage is adding up. Also the demographics of sports car buyers is changing over time, too. These cars are becoming part of an era, those from that era are getting older, too. Younger buyers with cash don't seem too impressed with history.... or a slow car (by current hp standards.)

Anyway, the bottom line is the cars will sell for what they will sell for at any moment in time and that's about it.

ps, I had asked on another thread of yours if the car you bought was once listed on eBay? Did the owner have it on eBay for a while? I saw one identical to your description several months ago in Florida. The asking price was close, too. It looked to be a very nice car in a uncommon color.

I can't imagine you'd end up getting more than $33k-$34k for that car right now... I wish I was wrong, as I may have to sell mine as well this year. Good luck with your sale and move to Europe. If you want to sell it fast, I'd list it for $36K and see what happens.

Let's hope that all of us who have been lucky enough to be able to purchase these cars can hang onto them and truly enjoy them without worrying about their current values. Here's to great weather and happy motoring. - Glenn

I agree with much of what's been said. Cars that people were hoping would fetch $50s (example, a mint C2S with aerokit, less than 40K miles, etc.) are sitting at mid-$40K asking. I think that if you really want/need to sell, you should expect to sell for $36-37K. As you can see from others on the board, they have bought comparable examples in that range.
