Default Help - Fault code 43 Tank Ventilation Valve

All,

Using the Durametric tool, I can see a fault code on my 993. It shows a Fault code 43 - Tank Ventilation Valve.

Where is this located? From searching I see two vent valves. One at the fuel tank where the smaller tank is. Second is in the engine where it is connected to the carbon canister.

Which one is the one triggering the fault code 43? Anyone know or experienced this fault before?

Also, what symptoms are you seeing when you have this fault.

thanks,
anthony

I also use the Durametric tool and have a code 43, but it says Rear Blower Motor - Stage 1, code 44 Rear Blower Motor - Stage 2, and code 45 Inside Sensor Motor. All of my rear blower parts have been removed to make way for the TPC Supercharger. I built a small box to house the sensors, resistor, etc... but the recurring code is a pain.

Looks like code 43 can mean many things?

Good luck with your Tank Ventilation Valve!!!

Great topic....

I am also getting that error. I did a little research and its not specifically one valve, there are two and its an involved system. When the engine starts (and other times) it goes through a whole cycle of purging the vent canister. If any part of that sequence fails you will get a code 43. In my case it was affecting performance (I suspect it was stuck open and effectively creating a vacuum leak). For the time being, I just unplugged one of the valves (The one on top of the "tree" behind the blower motor). Performance is back on par, but I still get the error and who knows what happens when the canister does not get purged (time bomb ?? ).... It's one of those on my to-do list things that I just haven’t gotten around to digging into further....

Would love to hear if anyone has more info on the subject.

In my case, it turned out to be an unplugged connector in the engine. On the left side of the engine, behind the blower, there is a connector tree with many vacuum and electrical connectors. The top vacuum connector has a plug to regulate a 1-way valve to the carbon canister. Mine was unplugged.

It was an unplugged connection to the 1-way of the carbon canister.

Hey guys,

I'm sorry for digging this thread out of history but I'm having the same troube code. Can you explain what you mean by plug? Are you talking about an electic connector or some sort of plug for a vacuum line or similar?

thanks
