Default Engine mod - PMO carbs

Anyone installed a set of PMO carbs into their 3.6 air cooled ?
What type of performance gains did you get ?
Any draw backs ?

Its a common swap on a racing car along with an aftermarket ignition system like Electromotive HPX and when well tuned will produce good power. However, since you are now going back to a mechanical device, it will not compensate for temperature and pressure changes, so the engine won't run correctly in winter if tuned for summer, and vice versa. In addition, these style of carbs don't run smooth through every part of the rev range and get poor fuel mileage due to the compromizees one has to make.

okay - I understand now. Thanks for the good explanation. Will be in USA next month - thinking of things to buy while I there to bring back to Aus. PMO Carbs off the list now.
Cheers
