Default Catalytic converter temperature and paint

Ok, tried searching this topic but can't seem to get decent results so apologies in advance if this has been covered before.

So, I'm curious:

Does anyone know what temperature the catalytic converters in our cars run at? If they get painted with high-temp paint will it affect the internal temperature of the catalytic and cause problems?

Thanks all.

I'm certainly not a cat expert but common sense suggests that a properly operating cat gets no hotter than the exhaust manifolds at the head and those are frequently painted or powder coated on some show cars with no ill effect. The paint itself could potentially cause the cat to run a bit hotter but I'm guessing that it won't matter, again as long as the cat and engine are running right. Where cats tend to get into trouble is when an engine is running really rich the cats can get very overheated and either cause damage to surrounding parts and/or the internals of the cat itself.

They make header paint, good for 1300º.

I would use the highest temp stuff you can find.
