Hey there, I am a newbie to the 993 world and to Porsche in general. After perseverating about buying a 930, I decided that it was probably too much car for me and migrated to the 993. I am looking at a 1995 cabriolet in a VERY light metallic blue with black interior (anyone know what that color is called or how rare it is?). It's got about 68K miles. Assuming it's in excellent condition (I know, I have to get a PPI), what might I expect to pay for it? Is the mileage considered high? Obviously there are cars with less and with more...

Thanks a lot, guys.

I had to look up "perseverating". Damn :-) Are you sure?:

per⋅sev⋅er⋅a⋅tion   /pərˌsɛvəˈreɪʃən/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [per-sev-uh-rey-shuhn] Show IPA
–noun 1. the act or process of perseverating.
2. Psychiatry. the pathological, persistent repetition of a word, gesture, or act, often associated with brain damage or schizophrenia.

If you are in US I'd price that car around $25-27K if it's in very good condition and is a stick. The color might be Riviera Blue (look at a recent thread on "Rivi Cab" to see teh color).

Sounds like Horizon Blue to me as it's a pretty light metallic...I'm pretty sure that Riviera is a solid color, not metallic...

My money is on Polar Silver...

Polar has a little Blue in it in most lighting
RB is not a metallic
Get the paint code (and options while you are at it) off of the sticker under the hood by the latch... or, as Mike said.. post a pic.

As for price, they are all over the map these days. It will really depend on condition, if it really is "excellent", in the upper 20s, based on the prices I've seen bouncing around.

'Tis a good time to buy!

Dealer lists it as "silver" but it's got an allaround metallic blue-ish tint to it. Maybe it's polar silver and I just don't know enough yet. Pics are not very good, but you can see them at classiccargallery.com

pfffft!
The first recorded use of silver as a color name in English was in 1481.

Two guys come to their pastor for a resolution of a dispute:

- Father, is black a color?
- Yes, my son, I believe black is a color.
- Father, is white also a color?
- Yes, my son, I believe that white is also a color.
- See, John, I _did_ sell you a color TV!

On top of that I worked on a color science project for 2 years of my life. There are, literally, paint colors called "serendipity" and "distant thunder" in Sherwin Williams paint deck. That don't make 'em no colors!

OK, I get it. But to see it in person, there is a noticeable blue hue to the color "polar silver".
