Buying a Porsche 993
#47
Hi All,
Found one that is just too clean and too low miles to pass up so I pulled the trigger! Let me know if anyone can do a Rennfax in the Western Massachusetts area.
Thanks again to everybody on this list who has taken time to help me!
Sincerely,
George

Hi guys,
I did like JD's old white 993. Exact colors I wanted although it had cookie cutter wheels when I looked at it.
In the end, I went with the car below. It was the cleanest low mileage car I could find and the owner was a Porsche fanatic.
I would love to have a Rennlist guy take a look before I have a garage guy go out there. If anybody's in the Western Massachusetts area send me a pm.
I'm trying to keep this somewhat private until I pick her up this weekend but here are a few pictures. A true garage queen owned by an old Rennlist fanatic...
Here's some of the specs from the owner...
1995 C2 with 25k Miles. Guards Red with black interior. Big red brakes, 18"
turbo twists w/new Conti N2's, JIC suspension, lowered, corner balanced and
aligned w/trg sways, strut brace, motorsound intake w/ K&N,RSR's, Rennsport
chip,motorsound intake, RSR exhaust,FPB, Bird Armrest,cover,near flawless
condition-never tracked, all original parts come with it extremely well
maintained-needs nothing.
The car also came with ABD and limited slip differential. If you go to the
JIC site I bought remote rear adjsuters to be able to better tune the
damping without having to become a contortionist. Also- the chip is a Steve
Weiner one that was setup for my intake and exhaust mods.
In addition...
A set of oil filters and ~ 2 quarts of Mobil 1 Oil - oil was changed last
fall before I put it up for the winter- less than 500 miles on it- by the
way, the only Mobil 1 I've used in the car to date is the "old" formulaton
with greater wear additives than the new formulation. There's quite a
discussion on Rennlist about it- splitting hairs if you ask me but I always
err on the conservative side. If I were keeping the car I'd use Brad Penn
oil in the future.
Hood Strut- I bought a pair because in colder weather the front hood would
droop. After putting the drivers side on the problem was fixed and I decided
to leave the other side alone until it was needed.
2 Power seats driver/passenger sides along with bolt kit to install(seat
mounting bolts are notorious for their heads stripping out) I replaced
drivers seat last year- original passenger seat is in mint condition-new one
never installed. ( extra seats are being brought to VA in a chase car )
Original Struts and swaybars ( boxed up along with the seats )
New steering wheel and airbag
Original cassette tray that was replaced by Bird Armrest
Factory parts list and service manual CD's for 993's
Adrian Streather's 993 -The Essential Companion- a well recognized reference
book on the car
Sales brochures from 1995 993
50 lbs of various 911 magazines collected over the years...
Looks like a car I'll be happy with. As always, any advice is welcome.
