Another Rennlister commented on the leather Porsche air bag on the three spoke steering wheel having a smoother texture or grain than the leather steering wheel. Below is a photo of the leather airbag and steering wheel and the siginificant difference in grain between the wheel and the airbag. The steering wheel with this grain seems to be from a Boxster or 996 and often has the vinyl air bag mounted which has a considerable grain.

Occasionally, I have seen a few smooth leather Porsche three spoke steering wheels where the leather is essentially as smooth as the original 993 steering wheel was. The smooth leather wheel matches the smooth leather airbag well.

Does any one know which models (or options) of Boxsters, 996s, GT3, GT2, etc. had the smooth leather wheel and/or air bag? Photo shown below of the smooth wheel and airbag.

 

My wheel matches my airbag which are both lighter than the rest of the interior. Looks like your wheel would match up with the smooth/non-leather airbag.
