Default Targa Top Issue

When the top is being closed the rear portion/frame of the glass on the passenger side is hitting this piece of metal. Any thoughts from the Targa Gurus? Thanks.

Warning: be careful. this happened to mine and at one point the metal piece popped out of that guide and proceeded to get under the rubber seal as the top was closing causing all kinds of problems

I eventually took the metal piece out with the intention of getting a new one but I just dont use the shade in the mean time

That sprung metal piece holds the rear of the plastic sunshade track but allows it to "duck" as the frame of the glass top moves by.

The plastic sunshade track clips on to the main track assembly. There are like five or six places along its length where it snaps on. See this photo:

You can see the tabs that hold the plastic tack onto the aluminum main track. if one or more toward the back come undone the track can ride a little high and cause what you describe. That would be my best guess. You can check and see if there is a different amount of lateral play in the track on the side that is having the problem vs. the good side, That will let you know if it is unclipped.
If this is the problem you have to push it back on until it snaps in place. You may be able to do this with the trim cover on, but you really need to push evenly to get it to snap on, and trying to push it back on with the trim cover on makes that kinda hard to do.

That is my first guess.
My second would be that the metal spring has moved slightly out of the slot in the plastic track. It slides in the back end of it. If somehow it has come out a little it will stick out (and therefore up) a little higher. it shouldn't do this though. compare the two sides.

Those are my best guesses, it has been a long time since I messed with my top.
