Safelite does make their own however they no longer make the 993 one. They install Sigla which is OEM glass!!

You can inspect the glass before you install it to make sure it says Sigla, if it does not tell them you don't want it installed and thats the end of it. Just make sure you get the seals yourself as they won't bring them

I received clarrification which concurs with your statement. I asked them for the part number and they gave me a code beginning with SIG. And yes they don't provide the gaskets and the cost is $1320 installed! What a deal!

AL,
Drive to Ohio, do the DE at mid-Ohio, and then continue the drive to Chicago. Spend the night, try out their pan pizza, enjoy some jazz and then drive home happier and richer.

Tom

And on the drive home a huge rock will smash my brand new windshield and I can do it all over again!

Watch out for O.E.E.

I called Safelite. They offered an OEE windshield. That's Original Equipment EQUIVALENT. Be careful. EQUIVALENT is NOT OEM.

They couldn't tell me who made it. It was about half as much as the OEM glass I was quoted. I went with the OEM stuff since I don't want the pitting to be but oh-so-bad.

Another option is cutting some sheets of Lexan and fabbing a windshield. Was an idea I considered but don't want to be the guinea pig on this one.

But this assumes that OEM is better.

Correct. Didn't feel comfortable taking my chances on a question mark though...

Al,
Here are the pictures of the windshield I was telling you about. The crack, is very small. The divot is next to the cigarette lighter in the picture. Let me know. If you are not interested I'm going to buy it as a back-up. Take care buddy.

I don't know who sells, but you can get lexan Speedglass windshields for a 993.
