There is a small business out in the boonies (Quarryville, PA) called AIC that sold both of these. Here's a link..

Wink Surgeon General's Warning

INCREDIBLE, you guys. THANKS! This thread's better than sleep; a dream come true if I was sleeping!!! In fact, when I often should be going to bed, I spend hours surfing for 993 Speedster shots instead. I'm sick. Contagious? Maybe this thread needs a disclaimer.

Ron-- Gracias, amigo. Amazing that 964s can molt into such gorgeous sheetmetal!

Future-- Great shots, especially the Netherlands 964 for sale in 993 clothing! Keep up the good work.

If you haven't already, check Cabrio993's cool thread on your blue 964 Speedster: Jerry Seinfeld's 94 Speedster sold at Auction. (Just don't be surprised when someone with an avatar like mine changes the thread's direction to Jerry's 993 Speedster. )

Damien-- I called the Italian dealer & got the same news. Then I stumbled across the new owner, in a different country. I took a trip to see it in person. He made improvements & was considering selling. I'll post pix & details after I've exhausted my library of Seinfeld & Porsche family Speedsters, etc.

Before I get any hopes up, though, I've gotta relay he didn't respond to an e-mail I sent months past. He used to respond promptly; Speedster may no longer be for sale.

Seller said it did have damage years ago when it was a cab; may have led to Speedster conversion. Regardless, it has a 3.8 & is a true 993, as opposed to 964 with a facelift.

From researching it, I got the impression that previous collision repair isn't as big a deterrent to average Germans/ Italians, etc. considering buying a used car. For example, I don't think Europe has anything comparable to CarFax or AutoCheck. Almost unimaginable here, given the concern for salvage titles, etc.

International Rennlisters: please set me straight if I'm out of lane here. I'm curious.

Macca-- Sharp eye - Something about the overall look of Mark Porsche's 993 Speedster caught my attention, but the narrow-body rocker panels eluded me. Now I know!

Default Speedster not Cheapster

I've consistently heard that inclusive factory 911 Speedster gear costs $20,000 USD if you can find it.

I once contacted a FL eBayer who only had a windshield with antenna, frame mounting points, humps & cable from a 1994. He had already sold 'em to a customer in Germany for $10k USD.

Mounting points:

Related thread: HARD TOP 993.

Strosek's Speedster hardtops don't have the rear quarter windows. Gemballa, however, has a comparably gorgeous version with three rear windows. No longer made, though -- I asked Heinz. If anyone has a lead on one for sale, please let me know!

I had a quote for some parts yesterday from LA Dismantler's and they were nearly 3 times more expensive than in the UK

example:
993 Front Fenders Each: $750 (UK price I paid today £250)
Drivers and passengers air bag: $1100 (UK price £220 for both)

I can now see why 993's are writtern of so easily by insurance companies in the US!

So what is the actual list price for a new front fender in the States at the moment?

Germany is also very expensive at the moment for used parts

Love the Gemballa speedster hard top but THAT is all I like about the kit. The hardtop looks a little like the TVR 350T:

Companies selling knock off copied products like that so blatantly should not be supported or purchased from in my opinion unless a product has been discontinued by the original manufacturer

What a **** take - reading there statement on ebay: "Strosek wants $7500.- for this item!!!!! you can get ours for about 1/3rd of that price!!!!..."

Should read: "Fake hairdressers handbag accessory"
