Default 996 seats in a 964/993

Hi,

What is the compatibility situation on electronics between 996 seats and the 964 car electronics ?

I have seen mechanical hardware that should make the seats fit.

Does anyone have 996 seats in a 964/993?

Thanks,

Daniel

Check over in the 924/944/968 watercooled section. WHen I had my 944 I picked up some Boxster seats and it was fairly simple. Bend the front tabs on the new seat rails up, remove the locator pins about 2/3 the way back and change out the connectors for the seat belt warning. I don't know if you can use 987/997 seats because of the side airbags.

I put them in my 964. Two differences;

1. the rear mount points closest to the tunnel needs re drilling, the rest align correctly. There are two lips on the front of the rails that need to be flattened.

2. Electrics patch in pretty easily, its just a power and earth

Uber, the two lips that need to be flattened, is it one on each seat or two on each seat.

My issue is that one of the lips has an extension on it for a spring. I cannot get it flat since the piece sticks out too much.

Guys, there are so many discussions on this on 993 board as well as clear DYI on p-car.com that it should be a complete non-issue. Takes 15 minutes total or so to prep the 996 seats.

Electrically, the rule of thumb is - get 996 or 997 seats without memory. Having said that, 996 memory seats can be made to work as well. Not 997, though.

Mike, checked p-car.com and there is nothing. Will try the search function again but in the 993 section only.

Check out this great thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...t-install.html

This is what I've used with my install couple of month ago. There are several others, definitely search 993 sections, not 996. Let me know if any pointers are needed. I can walk you through details as my experience is pretty fresh. I put 996 sport seats (from LHD car, no less) into my 993.
