Earlier this week I took delivery of my new Golden Rod. I sent Mark and Darin my stock rod last week and they turned it around extremely quick. From the time that I took it off of my car until the time that I got it back was one week. I also took delivery of an RS shifter and fork from Sunset this week as well. I finished the install of all the parts this evening and am very happy with the results. The shift action is much more solid and defined. Best of all, the rattle that I used to experience cruising in second gear is gone. The shift **** stays put solidly in place. Everything is so much tighter. Just like the RS motor mounts I installed a few years ago, this one is a no brainer. To bad that so many Skip and Buffy's were buying these cars in the day or else they probably would have come from the factory this way.

Now, if anybody wants my original factory "long" shifter and fork, it's yours for free. Just pay shipping. There is no way that I am going back.

Does anyone have a picture under the car with this installed?
What exactly does it do?
Shorten the throw?
make it more stiff?

The Golden Rod replicates the factory RS shift rod which has a universal joint vs the stock rod with a rubber donut joint. And at 1/3 of the price.

Help me out here boys I'm not to bright. Does it shorten the throw? Or just clean up the slop? Whats the mod where you have to hammer out a bowl to make the shifter fit and then when you high center on a speed bump you get stuck in 2nd gear?

Mark, the Golden rod modification removes the slop. It removes the rubber isolator on the shift rod that goes from the bottom of your shift lever to the front of the transmission, like the Porsche RS shift rod (which sells for around$360). It does not shorten the throw.
