Default Snap-on jack stands

Hi,

anyone familiar with these jack stands from Snap-on? I notice they are available from TireRack and other places as well with different branding. Would appreciate a review if you have some. I wonder how the base diameter compares to the Esco flat tops.

At $150 apiece by the time they're at my door, I'm looking for other alternatives.

I think the base diameter of the Esco stands is much bigger than that of the Snap Ons. Snap On is only 7 inches. I don't know for sure, but from memory I'd say the Esco is about 12 inches or so total, with the base of each leg being about 3 inches in diameter.

I also found them from Amazon (Northern Tool) for $89 + $15 SH. I know that Ultimate Garage has had them in the past too, but I can't find them on their site. They had a similar price I believe.

Steve at Ultimate garage had a few left about a month ago...(I was able to resist temptation...at that time...) The link he sent me to a page with them no longer works and I can't find them on the site. You could email him:
steve@ultimategarage.com

Google found these at a good price. As good as Ultimate's price, since they have free shipping.
Here they are for $78/each inc shipping.

I helped a friend to an oil change yesterday and I can now see why everyone loved these.... Must...resist....temptation.....must...resist.....

FWIW, I have a pr. of the SNAP-ON AL jackstands. I don't use them for everyday service in the garage but they're great for DE events. They're sturdy but lightweight, don't take up much room and the 7" diameter base is safer than the 3 or 4 footed versions which can sink down in sand, gravel or hot asphalt unless you use a piece of plywood or steel plate.

Oh, and Tire Rack has AL stands that look just like the Snap On ones.

NC Trackrat, are the upper shafts solid or hollow? Have you ever felt they would benefit from a larger diameter base?

Princess Auto, in town, has them on sale for $80 a pair - no shipping, brokerage, or dollar conversion involved, so it is tempting.

They look like the OTC brand of jack stands. I don't believe they go as high and the tops are not round and flat. I would like some Esco's too but with freight and exchange $350 is crazy. If only there was a local distributor.

Upper and lower shafts are hollow but .273" thick. Rated @ 3,000 lb. ASME certified. The bases, IMHO, are more than adequate and very stable. The pins have spring-loaded detents in the ends. They're a class act and I have no compunctions about getting under a car with them holding it up. If that's $80C, it's a great deal unless they're rip-offs. Even $80US would be a decent price.

Thanks for the info - They are available at $80 CDN a pair. Sounds like it is worth having a look at them.

I have a set of these and they work well. I use them for limited time use, not for projects that require me under the car for long periods of time.

Also great for the track. Lightweight etc.

They are Bluepoint sold by Snap-On dealers.
