Sorry, guys, was traveling in SoCal this week.

My 993 is still running great after Exotech did the top end. $3500 sounds about right for just the top if everything else is okay, I think Mark is a little less expensive because he doesn't have to send the heads out and so forth. You might need a little patience as Mark is big into racing and I'm sure lots of guys are getting their cars ready for spring. On the other hand, with the economy ...

Quick update:
My tech did a rudimentary SAI flush (for free!!) and he said I was still clogged badly, and the huge cost of labor to properly clean out the passages would be better applied to an engine out/top end job when the time is right. I agreed, told him I would do the G-string flush myself (that sounds fairly burlesque, huh?) and he reset the CEL and I went on my merry way. This AM I went to my friendly neighborhood emissions station and, despite several readiness paradigms not set...PASSED!

SO I now have two glorious years of SAI Procrastination and deferment to look forward to!!

No dyno. They plug in the OBDII reader while the car is running and it spills the beans. Any engine fault code will trigger a fail.

Steve,

I have just run into the SAI problem in MA (see thread Emissions failure in MA). I have read the article on pcarworkshop and that article mentioned the same idea. Since I am on the east coast, I am wondering how much you enlarge the SAI passages?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I do this on the milling machine and enlarge them about 2mm.
