Man, you're giving up on it so soon? Get it fixed and be done with it.

Nice look! FWIW, I feel your pain. If several days of frustration were my criterion, I would have sold it at least a dozen times. Hang in. As does everything, it'll pass and there is a solution to the problem other than doggin' the car.

**** Happens! I think if you work through it and don't sell the car you will be much happier in the long run!

Step back. If it breaks it can be fixed. Frustation shouldn't be the reason for the sale. Good luck it will work out. I have been there pulling my hair out to.

What others have said...

But... is that car orange or red? Looks orange, but I didn't know if the picture just didn't show it right.

If several days of frustration were my criterion, I would have sold my ex-wife, my GF and anything in between at least a dozen times. Well, I might still sell the ex if I find takers.

digdoug2001,
What they said ^^^^^^^^^
Hang in there, get her to a reputable shop (someone here can help point you in the right direction in the LA area) and as they say, "This too shall pass". Anyone who's owned an older Porsche (or any car) has had "issues", but it will get sorted...and the fun will begin again!

Besides, you'll be more pissed off when you figure out what you can sell it for and how much $$$ you'll lose selling the car in this economy.

If the immobilizer issue can be fixed easily and at very low cost, would you consider keeping the car? Here's how:

1, Find a shop that sells "OMP MASTER BATTERY CUT-OFF SWITCHE". Have a guy help you install it onto the earth cable on the battery of your car.
2, Every time after you park the car you should open the trunk and turn that lever key to switch off the battery. Then the whole car will be powered off and the immobilizer too. So the immobilizer won't malfunction.
3, Every time before you drive the car you need to open the trunk and turn that lever key to switch the battery back on. Then the whole car will be powered on and the immobilizer too.
4, My car is Euro spec. I am not sure if your US spec is the same. But, upon power back on, the immobilizer of my car will function immediately and all lights start to blink and the engine won't start when the immobilizer is functioning.
5, If situation in 4 happens, simply use your key to lock the door of the car, then unlock it right away. That will disable the immobilizer. And lights will stop blinking. Now you can sit in the car and start the engine.

Note: I have long time ago removed the siren from my car. So when the lights blink there is no siren beeping. If your car still has that siren and if it beeps when the lights blink, have the shop remove the siren too.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear of your frustration.
Why not take it to a shop and have them sort it for you?

I had the same problem with a OE Porsche alarm(UK) p**sed me off big time and I was about to throw the car up the road then though no.... I'll have the alarm junk ripped out, took the bloke an hour. If the cars every parked in a dodgy place I take the DME relay out.
