Help! I locked up my Becker guessing at the code

My Becker CDR220 has the code written on the side of it. I forgot to right it down and after I installed it I guessed at the code. That was a bad idea because after 3 guesses the display reads "wait".
So I did and of course nothing happened. Disconnect the battery. Reconnect...still says wait. So I pull the radio. Write down the code this time.![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
Hook my old CDR210 up...punch in the code and it works fine. Thought somehow this might clear an error/theft attempt. Nope.
Reinstall the 220 and still get a WAIT message.
Does anyone know who to clear a Becker radio??
I assume guessing at the code locked it up somehow. And I don't want to WAIT until Monday to call Becker.
Thanks,

Search on this forum turned up nothing.
After some Googling I found a couple threads on the MB fourm about leaving it in the on position for 24 hours...could that be right?

When you guess at the code and get it wrong several times, the radio goes into the "wait" mode, and the more you keep fiddling with it, the longer the wait. Leave it alone for 24 hours or so, then try the correct code.

Yup...a little patience (which I have none of) worked. Left the radio on, went to bed, woke up this morning and it was ready for the code once again. I'm back in business.

Hook up your battery charger, & leave the head unit on. I think it's only like a hour or 2, then you can redo the code. I also believe that it automatically shuts off after 2 hours.

Stealth 993,
I think your spot on. I'm not sure how long it took, but I did leave it on, go to bed, and when I got up the power was off. Powered it up and entered the code.
FWIW....I'm all dialed in now with my CDR220 thanks to your lead on the discount car sterero iPod connection. Plug and Play...no RCA cables...couldn't be easier. My 993 face plate from Becker should arrive any day!

Thanks, Mark. I found this in my Becker file and thought I'd share, since I got it here sometime:
Retrieve the Code-
When the radio shows "CODE" press and hold the "TP" button the radio until "BECKER" appears on the display. Turn the right **** 2 "clicks" until you see an 8-digit serial number. The numbers that you want are the 7 numbers that follow the letter. Armed with that information along with the 4-digit year of the car, call your local Porsche dealer and you should be able to get your radio code. - Takes only 30 seconds to get it from Porsche.
