Default Flushing slave cylinder

Petosin, right?

Is anyone else finding the search function to be kind of useless?

I don't know.

Thanks in advance. I'll have the car on my jack stands this weekend again and while i'm under there......

And I do just happen to have a can of Xenit....

Brake fluid. The clutch hydraulic system shares the brake master cylinder fluid reservoir. Pressurize that reservoir, put a length of brake bleeder hose on the clutch slave cylinder bleed nipple, crack it open, and fluid should flow out. The procedure is detailed here:

If you have a power bleeder now is the time to use it. It will take some time to it with out it.

If you don't use a power bleeder with fluid in it make sure you or someone keeps the reservoir FULL. (Some people use the bleeder w/o filling it with fluid - easier clean up) You can bleed about 50 cc before you start sucking air into the clutch line. The pickup for the clutch is very close to the top of the reservoir. If you use the power bleeder, you need to pinch the vent tube. You can also plug the end of it where it exits the car. It comes out at the jack point behind the front left wheel. I prefer this method that way I'm not crimping a rubber tube that is 14 years old. GL with it!

Sorry, I didn't see you have a '96. I don't think you have a vent tube on that year.

I have also done this twice using a manual vacuum bleeder gun, 2 pieces of clear tubing and a plastic bottle with 2 nipples on it. It worked very well. There was a ton of crud flushed thru.

Can you do this without a power bleeder? I could wait a couple of weeks to use my buddy's, but if I have time tomorrow I'd like to bleed without it.

its a pita, if not impossible. the bleed screw is hard to get to, so having someone pump while you open & close the bleed would be asking for trouble. I would wait for your buddy's pressure bleeder or buy one yourself. they're less than $40 and make brake bleeding a piece of cake.

A lift would be nice.

I was going to get the car up on the stands tonight but I have to work tomorrow. But I will use a power bleeder when I do it. I don't want anyone moving around in the car, pumping on the pedal while I'm underneath it!

Are you doing the Little Rock drive tomorrow?

Hey, I flush this out without pressurizing at times, with a buddy pumping the pedal. Make sure you have a rope, you will need to pull back the pedal when it hits the floor due to the spring action and no pressure. Works great and gives the assistant a good workout !

Mind you, I am standing under a lift, and the guy is in the car, so reaching the nipple is not problem. I think it will be harder but certainly not impossible on jackstands.

cheers,

Mike
