A picture or two would help you sell the wheel a bit faster.

What kind of deal for this wheel and your 996 sport seats as a package? No shipping as I could pick up in person the next time I'm in P-town.

Edit: I see you sold the seats. I'll give the steering wheel some thought~

I'm under the perhaps mistaken impression that the leather 3-spoke has a triangular stitching pattern on the hub portion. If this is not true and the wheel is all leather, I'm willing to trade a stitched wheel with a silver crest for an all leather sans stitches with a gold crest.

Your assumption is correct. The leather air bag covers have visible stitching and the vinyl airbag covers are smooth as shown above. I think the OP is a stating the wheel is leather and comes with an airbag.

If you are looking to trade a silver crest airbag for a gold crest cover, you shouldn't have much of a problem, as it seems there are several people looking for the silver version.

900 USD is maybe a little bit steep. I bought a new leather airbag from Sunset for 450 USD 2 years ago and used steering wheels can be found on ebay in the 200 USD area (I was lucky and paid 100 USD 2 years ago).

Maybe the prices went up. At the end, market will tell ...

better check the price again.
things have changed in 2 years.
current list on the airbag alone is over $800.

this package is complete, is in excellent condition and is available for shipping today,
not 2 years ago and not 2 years from now.

I agree.. this seems to be a decent deal given where airbags have gone recently. Wish I could justify it at the moment, but job uncertainty has me very careful with optional mods.

What makes you think this is an "optional mod"?

This is one of those mods that is arguably better than a set of wheels, sport suspension, or body kit because it provides constant gratification while driving regardless of vehicle speed, time of day, weather, whatever. It just looks right, feels right, and improves steering feel (IMO) when driving quickly.

Kind of like LPMM/FisterDs, short shift kits, and HID headlights, it's a mod that makes you smile when you use it and you use it alot.

Of course, my opinion may differ since I daily drive my 993 so I spend much more time looking out the windshield than staring at it in the garage.

Simpateko,
Not to burst your bubble or be degrading, but anyone can buy the same package as a kit from Porsche brand new for $697.02. The part # is 000044400188YR, this is for a new leather steering wheel and vinyl airbag. Sunset charges $50 for shipping as it is a Hazmat iteam. I just checked this pirce with Aaron last week as I was looking for an airbag, I have the wheel, and he told me about this deal. Yes a leather airbag is just a little over $800.00 and the vinyl is around $700.00 alone new now. Looks like Porsche wants to sell the "KIT" instead.

So yes $900.00 for used is a little steep considering it is $200.00 over the cost of new.

That's a good point. Where have prices been?

As a benchmark, I bought mine used in decent condition. The leather still had a nice grain to it (not worn smooth) but the spoke at 9 o'clock had a small tear that was poorly repaired. I paid $650 back in November 2006.

So, an additional $250 2 1/2 years later for a wheel in better shape isn't too crazy, especially considering they theoretically haven't made any more since the 987/997 came out in 2005(?).

Although, there aren't too many people out there with $900 to spend on things like this (myself included!), so it is a buyers market right now.

Hmm. Makes sense. They can expect to deplete the inventory of airbags through the natural process of collision repair. But, stock of "obsolete" 3-spoke steering wheels without airbags is probably considered dead inventory.

That, or maybe the "airbag only" part is newer inventory that cost more? Either way it's a nice find for those looking to buy.

VMX
i just spoke with aaron at sunset and he quoted $824.62 + shipping.
sorry, none available in the usa, 3 to 5 weeks from germany.

that's what sunset told me when i paid for and ordered an owners manual for my 1995 993 over a year ago, still dont have it.

in light of this new information, i am lowereing the price to $800.
mine is in stock and available today.

I think the price is a tad high, considering several air bags sold on ebay for around the $400 mark, and the wheel around the $300 mark.

Also, in todays economy, it might take a little longer to sell at that price. I was willing to pay 800 or 850 (dont remember), and the seller refused, so I decided on a RUF wheel instead

I was a little concerned about the older threads I read about the wheel not matcvhing the interior black of the 993 perfectly....

I am sure the wheel will still sell for asking price....GL!
