Default my car is possibly for sale...

original post below with updated asking price of $22,500... local buyer could not come up with financing...if i don't sell at this price i will forget about the C4S until summer

all,

i will be 50 in 1 week and am thinking seriously of buying a 993 C4S...if i follow thru i will sell my car since i would like to remain married.

if anyone remembers, i sold my 1996 C4 last year because i had abdomenal surgery and i was in a funk...after the surgery i decided to reward myslef with a 1995 example because i wanted to avoid any CEL issues as i experienced with my 1996.

i purchased my california 993 after looking at 10 examples over the course of 3 months...my car has great maintenance buy it's previous owner(airplane guy/engineer) with records going back to 36K miles and perfectly clean CARFAX....service book stamped showing service at 9700 miles and major service at 36K miles

i purchased car at 99,700 miles...proper 15K services at correct intervals at either Devak or Rector Porsche in burlingame ca.

PPI done at Rector Porsche september 2008...exc. compression all cylinders
PPI showed usual slight seapage from chain covers and valve covers and the outer rear cv boots were torn slightly....i went ahead and had the valve covers and all 4 cv boots replaced....

the car just turned 100K miles and i have only put 1000 miles on it since i purchased it in september 08...it is in like new condition inside and out and drives like new....i just had the humming fuel pump and sunroof switch replaced....sunroof switch was corroded internally and it was becomming annoying.

at 50K major service

at 60K new clutch/flywheel and rear main seal...engine completely resealed and new engine wiring harness(recall)

at 73K miles the car had complete 75K service and: the steering rack replaced, upgraded suspension(bilstein M030), RS engine mounts and short shift kit were done at devak porsche in burlingame ca....also new complete brake rebuild including rotors. new clutch slave cylinder and front protection bar installed..

at 97K miles the previous owner replaced the pitted windshield and had the nose and hood resprayed(rock chips)at mathews-carlsen in burlingame ca. excellent job....he also replced both front headlights because they were pitted....paint has a few rock chips since....stereo speakers in doors could use replacing.

**during the PPI i had performed at rector porsche, the windshield was removed and re-installed by mathews-carlsen due to vin# tag not positioned properly...at this time any areas under the windhield seal that had any evidence of oxidation or rust starting to form were rust-proofed.

*i can get many more photos of my car next week to any interested parties...i will be unavailable to do any sort of transaction until i return from business march 8th.

here are the particulars on my car:

1995 C2....100,900 miles
6 speed
clutch replaced at 60K miles when rear main seal was changed...as stated in service record it didn't need clutch but made sense to do it since engine was out.
polar silver/black interior
bilstein M030 suspension upgrade
RS engine mounts upgrade
short shift kit
excellent paint and interior,,,wheels have a few curb nicks...
michelin pilot tires 70% tread lremaining
full service recently: belts, fuel filter, plugs and oil change, fuel filter and fuel pump at 100,600 miles
$22,500 firm

Sounds like a great car, and with the suspension, for a very reasonable price.

When you say C4S, are you looking at a new one for your 50th?

I'm 45 so I'd say that's a great idea!

William:

Glad to hear you're well again. Great looking car- I am sure it will sell at that price. There seem to be a plethora of 's' models available- hopefully you will find one to your linking!

Cheers,

Paul.

previous owner was a fellow rennlister with a metals fabrication company in palo alto...his name was knute ream...

really nice guy and as **** about cars as i am...

i remember calling him during my drive home to seattle explaining what a difference the upgraded suspension/RS mount mounts and short shift kit did to the ride.

he was glad i noticed and appreciated it

Very nice car and well priced, it seems. Should sell fairly quickly and painlessly.

William, why a C4S vs. this well sorted car?

Good luck with the sale! That's a good price for a well taken care of '95.

like i said i am "tinking of selling"

...not 100% sure at this point and i know if i do let my car go it would be tough to find another 100K car that has had the care mine shows.

William.... If I was looking, I would be buying a plane ticket to come see you. That is a great car at a great price. I need more money and a bigger garage! Looking at the number of wide bodies out there you are in a great position as a buyer.
