Default 4th times a charm 993 RS 3.8 Varioram

Not a 993 on the outside but an 993 RS 3.8 Varioram on the Inside. This engine started life in a 993 RS. Since then it has been wrecked 4 times.

Long story short....

My 3.0 RS clone is finaly complete. This is the 3rd time this car has been rebuilt. It started life as a 76 Turbo/ Murnerva Blue hot rod... Cover Of Excellence a few years back... It was R gruppe Car of the year in 2000 or 2001... The car was sold and wrecked soon after. Next a 77 Black Turbo tub was the donor. Rebuilt to perfection by Rothsport Racing. Lastly, I was wiped out on the way to the beach... Car pulled out in front of me. Done deal... 2 years later here it is.

Third times a charm 74 Carrera Chasis. Stripped and Repainted in Tangerine with Bright work. Dropped in the seasoned 3.8 RS motor. (300 hp Varioram ) Gamroth Built sort geared 915. 930 Turbo brakes, flares, original RSR 9's and 11's X 15's, RS interior. Total weight 2150. The car is a torque monstor and as fast as my GT 3.

Here are a few pictures. Say a little prayer for me. I am hoping this car is not cursed. The motor has been wrecked 4 times. Not ready for another..

Looks like the Rothsport garage, but based on your sig card I suspect it isn't. Sweet ride and an inspiring project. Can I please get in line for the Maritime 964 if you ever decide to move on?

That will be a first class coffin. I have been quite keen to clone that exact car for a long time...and have wasted a fair bit of time thinking about the project...both my time and other people's time. Congrats on having the real thing.

Joe, you need to post a safety warning for this kind of post. Orange beast is automotive **** at it's best. As much as I like 993s, I've got to agree with you, 964RS is Porsche's high-water mark. Lastly, you need a new camera!

Incredible car!! If I had to pick a DD out of your amazing collection, I would go with the 964RS (best drivable sporting Porsche ever?), as well. For a weekend car, I would take the 71 or 73, as I just LOVE the aethetics of the early cars.

Bill,

Joe's car has a custom set of GHL heat exchangers made to fit factory-type mufflers coupled to a special Monty dual-in, dual-out, RSR muffler made for these bigger displacement engines.

The GHL's are NLA since they went out of business but we have the Monty's specially made just for us as the off-the-shelf versions didn't perform as expected on the big motors.

Factory type mufflers do not drone or resonate inside the car like race mufflers do,...

What he said... Thanks Steve, you know more about this car than I do.

The Rothsport Boys are the best. They did a great job..
