I had another idea, which is to use black glue instead of the white silicone for a better finish. I have a whole tube of 3M weather stripping glue. That should be more than tough enough. I might just consider this exercise as practice and do the whole thing again on my other set of lenses... as soon as I ship all that stuff I found new homes for :P

Here is a crude depiction of what I mean:
This pic should show the black in the background:

For a finishing touch, I ordered a set of clear film pieces for the fog lights from Xpel. The pieces were $10 + shipping and went on without a hitch. You'll need to call Xpel directly and reference the headlight & fog light kit I have in the link.
The pieces come with directions and took around 10 minutes to install.
The glass lenses I used for these fog lights were perfect, so I wanted to keep things that way.

Firstly, my 1st post on the 993 forum, hi to all...only taken 3 years to get here!
Excellent job, very impressed! Its interesting this looks totally different on light/dark cars especially silver being sensitive to it. I'm in the process of trialling a few ideas based on this using some old fogs. The glass is heavily pitted and has a big stone chip.
I am trying black sealant which I haven't seen done before, and the 'chrome' paint.
I am also planning on getting a housing vacuum metallised. Any ideas why they didnt do this in the factory?
My 'hope' is that I can get this side/fog to closely match the headlight.
Here is the result so far...not the money shot just yet!

You guys are really going to special-order paint for the inside of the fog light housings? There's no way in hell anyone is going to be able to tell the difference between shades of silver behind those pitted, Coke-bottle-thick fog lenses. Seriously people. Seriously.
(I used chrome paint from my local hardware store -- it's even more reflective than "Polar Silver.")

Easy there, Tiger. I had some extra Polar Silver left over from another project.
