Super nice! They look much better in that color. How do they look at night?

No idea - still on jackstands.

But I took some 'properly installed' pics and will post later.

I'd like to do this project, but without having to buy new fogs. My lenses are sandblasted in the way one would expect on a 993 with 99K on the odometer.

How much of an improvement do you guys think would be made if I took apart my fogs, cleaned them, painted the reflectors chrome, and re-used the glass? Worth it, or pointless?

Noah,
I think it's worth the effort. You can probably improve the glass a bit by using a glass polish, but the big improvement comes from what you do inside the housings. All of the projector lenses I had at my disposal were heavily fogged - on both sides. The inside surfaces of the main lenses were equally fogged. This is well within your mechanical talents.

By the way, one of the paints I tried was "Brilliant Chrome". No such thing. The Polar Silver, while very suitable to my car, looked far better. With that said, any silver paint would work better than these faux-chrome options.

Here are a few pics of everything back together. I need to get the headlights back in before the foglights will work.

Andreas,

Quite a difference. If mine had looked like your upgraded ones, I wouldn't have been so tempted to do the turbo s ducts.

I'm still a fan of the s ducts though. I parked my car way out in the parking lot at a Target the other day and walking back, looking at the front, it just confirmed that was the look I wanted.

I had my car up on my new Esco flat tops and I started cleaning under my car. I've never done that before. You and couple of others are at fault here. It will never look like yours or some of the other cars that are better than brand new factory clean.

I frankly get nervous under the car for any length of time. I have my hydraulic jack also supporting me but I'm kind of a wieny when it comes to laying under the car. Never used to bother me when I was younger. Think I'll just do the oil change and get it back on the ground. I'll use a friends lift for cleaning.

If you trade them, someone's going to get a nice set.

Good job as usual!

Chuck,
Thank you for the kind words - and for the lights you sent. Your housings are the ones I used.

As for the AC stands - they're more than safe. Enjoy the cleaning...

I'm doing the same project (silicone is drying in the garage as I type this). I was thinking of using Griot's glass polish to clean up the pitted lenses. I wonder if that would work. I tried using Mother's aluminum & mag polish with a buffer but that didn't make any perceptible difference. Glass is tough.

I tried Scratch-X and Flitz on some lenses. Maybe they were a little better, but not much.
