Default Sound enhancement airbox?

Saw this on EBAY. What is the difference between it and a stock airbox?

He is correct. I think it also has Chrome ring around the inlet.

Remove airbox cover. Drill 6 one inch holes. Reinstall cover. Sounds better and gains a few HP at high revs.

looks like those must be OEM wide ovals for that price...

The Motorsound airbox cover can be bought new from Sunset for $80-90
Or, if you don't care about the shiney ring, drill holes as mentioned above

I thought the shiny ring was good for 2 hp, no? I've been duped!

WOW! Well you don't get if you don't ask LOL!

Hmmm. Tips from corvetteC5dude, $50, new Motorsound airbox, <$100, getting ripped off, PRICELESS!

in my previous 993, i drilled about 6 1" holes in my airbox like what was mentioned above. the sounds at higher rpms from inside the cabin was really good. i can't comment on hp increases...i couldn't tell a difference.

i want to find a non-motorsound airbox and do the same thing on my current car.

I bought a Motersound Box and did not like it. I drilled 6 1 inch holes in my old one and it works great. The Motorsound Box is available without the clips.

Doug:

Try this.

Jhummel68 and I will be cleaning some parts for my car on Monday. I have Motorsound Airbox that is factory at the shop. I have the original if you want to buy it and do the above listed mod. I will even throw in the chrome trim ring to make it look factory. I do not need it since I am running the high rise intake on the MS box.

BTW, I am tempted to buy corvetteC5dude's exhaust tips, but what worries me is that he uses the same pic for all of the tips that are listed each time. You don't know what the actual tips look like. Anyone buy the tips?

I did and told him I wanted the straight cut ends as opposed to the rounded edges. I like them.

+1.I got the straight cut rather than rolled as well. Mine were described as like new. They sure looked new to me. Quick service and no issues whatsoever.

BTW Cactusboy, shouldn't you be working on something?
