Well I finally got all the parts in (thanks Gert and Viper Bob). I had the motor and trans pulled and began the cleaning process. Here are a few pics to get us going. Those of you who know me(or my projects) the race is on and I will be posting the progress. I am going all the way with this one.
First 3 pics are of the dirty engine bay
What a mess. At this point the decklid was still on (it was removed for the TT tail) the car. Also note the great looking engine pad. I was going to keep it, but decided against it
.
the next 3 pics are of a clean engine bay with the new engine pad sitting on the cab top. I now know why all these pads fall apart. They are made of a very light material. I thought by going with the factory pad it would be better.
The last 3 pics are of the finished engine bay and pad install. I am always amazed at the end result. The very last pic is of a clean wheel well. The brakes are out being powder coated and I won't be using the suspension pictured. New rotors are also on the way. I just wanted to show the color of the wells. Thanks to Andreas that Xenit cleaner is some good stuff. Still have some final spritzing up to do, but you get the idea of what I am going after.
Enjoy
Mike

Tim:
Haven't heard much from Guy lately. Did he fix his up? I knew he was in the process but I never knew how far he had gotten. BTW there will be more pics.

Mike,
Thanks for posting. I always enjoy these transformations of yours.
Can't wait until you "sand paint"!
Those 2 words together make me a bit uncomfortable :-)
Looking forward to the next post.
