Default How to fit 255/35/18 in the front

So, I want to fit 255/35/18 Toyo Proxes R888's in the front and here's how it will happen;

1. Roll the front fenders to get ~20mm more clearance
2. Change the offset of my BBS LM's by 16mm or use 16mm spacers with my other wheels.

Anyone else done this??

I tried the 255's last fall but they touched the inside of the wheel well. i.e. the wheel needs to be pushed out a bit either with a spacer or a by using a more agressive offset. I think there is a lot more room in the wheel wells but the shape of the front fender just eats a lot of it.
Look how far inside my front wheels are and yet they're almost touching the fender, there must be at least 25mm (1inch) there:

That is a really pretty car.
I run 245/35 and 285/30x18 on my track car (Hoosiers) and they are real tight. That is with stronger springs, too.
Tire profile makes a difference as well; I was using Toyo R1As 245/40 and 275/35x18 and they were also tight.
And, I should mention that I can't turn the wheel to full lock (not that I would ever want to on the track at speed!).

Thanks!

I use 245+285 Hoosiers as well but I'm beginning to prefer Toyo R888's over the hoosiers because I can drive to and from the track with them (Hoosiers won't take the beating). The R888 has very broad shoulders and there was just no way the 255's would've fit. But now I have a plan how to make it happen so let's see.

BTW, the car has Motons with EVO uprights (+a zillion other suspension goodies) so the suspension is up to the task.

Juha, first of all - what a beautiful car . Those photos really makes the silver stand out.

I agree with you that rolling the fenders should give you the extra room you need to fit 265s. It's really apples to oranges when comparing different brands of tires. So you need to try them on. Are R888's wider than the Hoosiers? I know some guys on the turbo board run 265's up front (don't know which brand though). I know David in LA has 11x18 ET52 in the rear andyou can probably fit 295's in the rear without rubbing if you roll fenders..

Some say the R888's are really noicy.. Did you notice a difference vs. the Hoosiers? Another option that will allow you to go to and front the track is MPSCs.. Much more expensive though.. Can you source the Hoosiers in Finland?

Ok, a litle update on this. I took apart one of my BBS LM front wheels and decreased the ET by 16mm by switching the center piece onto the inside of the wheel.
The wheel now comes pretty close to the edge of the fender but there's still room and haven't even rolled the fender yet. There's a 225/40/18 R888 on the wheel so fitting a 255 will probably require rolling the fender a bit.
At least now it won't touch the inside of the wheel well since the wheel is out by 16mm.

Viggo, about the tires, the set of R888's that are on the LM's now were my first taste of Toyos and I really loved them. The grip is excellent, not as good as hoosier R6's but way better than any street compound like PS2. And the tires are really durable. I've driven at least 2000-2500 street km's with them, done four track days and there's still plenty of rubber left and the grip is good. Try that with Hoosiers or MSPC's!
I have no idea on how noisy the R888's are because I have almost fully open exhaust and no noise insulation in the rear of the car...lol!

Here's some photos of today's BBS saga:
