i would be interested as well but does "early" mean only '95s? i agree i'm not happy with the amount of times the spoiler goes up and down during city driving...drives me nuts.
I'll look at my old one (the stock one) when I get home and report back on it's "color". Unless someone can find a better way, we may just have to get a sampling of modules from everyone and try to pinpoint when they changed the module. The module may have a date on it....but as a minimum, you can get the color and the build date of the car.
That email is as far as I got since I have been working on my shifter project. I told them I wanted to keep everything the same except change the up speed to 75 and they agreed. Haven't checked to see which one I have yet.
I have 2 factory modules for my early build '95 and they both are 964 part numbers. I sent Loren an email asking if the 964-numbered module is amenable to modification.
For 964's, the module was originally located under the passenger seat and was moved to under the dash later in the model's production run.
Someone on the 964 board was able to pull out certain pins from the module connector to make the spoiler manually operated only. I tried the diy on my early-build '95 and kept blowing fuses.
Bummer that you didn't get it working. I was going to try this.
For now, I also push the up button when I start my trip and down at the end. Except on short trips. Or if I don't expect it to go up and down more than once. But I'd rather not have to bother. Maybe if I fixed the noisy bearing it wouldn't bother me as much.

Jason, sorry to resurrect this thread, but is it possible that your disconnected leads were intermittently touching causing the fuses to blow?
Thanks,
Marco
I doubt it Marco since I wrapped each disconnected lead in electrical tape and made sure they were well-separated. I'm planning to try it again, but life has gotten in the way of the many things I want to do! Maybe someone else can give it a shot and see what happens.
