I jus tbought a Clavis Type 6 belt tension gauge.
I know is an overkill to be used for the 911 belts, but it is a very cool tool! I mainly bought it to do timing belts on Ferraris...
You can easily convert frequency back to ft/lb or Newton

Somehow I just knew the engineer TJ will love this. LOL!
I didn't learn about this tool until I was flipping through the Ferrari shop manual, because all belt tension were listed in frequency Hz. Later I found out this was the tool all factory technicians uses.

Neat tool! I'll pass it on to a friend, for we dropped his 348 engine for a TB service.
On the same principle, there is/was a sound wave file available on the net providing the reference frequency to correctly tension a 928 timing belt ( by 'plucking' the belt on a specific span, like a cello ) - great idea, but it sucks if one is tone deaf

Dave, the type 6 gauge are about $2k new. I was able to find an used unit for sale on the Ferrari forum, still cost me $500 + $300 for the sensor head. Not cheap, and used units rarely even go on sale.
There is really no need for this type of tension gauge for the 993..... I have always done the tension by the p-car.com finger method. :P
I don't want to risk it with the Ferrari, as a broken timing belt will cost you $10-$15k in repairs.
