Default New 2 Post Portable Lift!

Save your money for this. I think the price will be around $2k.

The lift seems very close to the height of the midrise scissor lifts at 45". I think the midrise will go 48" but i'm not sure if I have had mine that hight.

Very cool. Thanks for posting. Looks like it will work well in a small garage.

"Portable" but don't forget to permanently install the anchor bolts for the 2 posts in your concrete floor garage as per step one in the brochure from the link in post #1.

Looks pretty cool, thanks for posting. I would never trust myself (or anyone else) to install a lift like that, since it entirely depends on the concrete anchors. It would just scare the heck out of me.

This lift has been discussed in other forums (maybe even talk of a group buy IIRC) and the same concerns were raised (re: anchors)

For me, its not the "portability" that is the big feature, since most people would not want to bolt/unbolt the unit all the time. Its the fact that its a two post lift but low rise. It will fit with 8' ceilings...that is a total bonus. I have a full sized lift since I am fortunate to have a relatively high ceiling, but have friends who are using sissor lifts becuase of height problems. This unit allows for full access to the underside the of the car which is the total bonus over a sissor lift.

I am not sure how they "balance" the load between the two units. Most lifts use both the hydraulics and a cable system, this unit has no cables. That is an interesting twist, since even on my large two post lift, I have a small ramp on the floor to cover the two cables that run between the towers.

It seems the safety pin (with the big red handle) is only engaged with the lift is a full height...there must a ratchet/locking mechism inside the column, but I did not see any mention on the website/brochure.

Cheers,

Mike

They seem to go to lengths to give the specs on the anchor bolts. I like the portability of the lift. Even with my midrise lift it's hard to find a good spot for it even with ramps on it. I wish someone would come up with a lift for the midrise lift so you can store it vertical against a wall or something.

So you're looking for a lift lift?

I "kind of" like this lift but I agree with Eric in this quote above.

The analysis shows the bolt load at 2800 to 3200 lbs ...each. The only way I could feel comfortable with this lift, or any 2 post lift would be to cut in a local pad with the anchors cast in. That is not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things with an install.

The other issue is the set up time. Set up and tear down can take a while...maybe longer than the job itself.

If I had the room, I would have a full 2 post lift for about the same price. Of course, I don't so I am still leaning to the mid rise scissors lift.

Cheers!
