I just called...MaxJax should be shipping Mid to late February...still with a target price of $2,000 incl shipping (to Seattle at least).
The Max Jax offers no advantage in features or price to me but other may like the portable feature.
Still, I can get a full rise 2 post for $1,500 and no shipping as it is available close by in Portland.
The 2 post is not an issue as I have a big enough garage floor space wise. I have just enought room to double stack 2 cars in the height allowed in my garage.
Cheers!

Has anybody done business with these guys? I got a KILLER deal from them:
http://www.americanautomotiveequipme...s-p/pmr6xt.htm
I am, after much deliberation (waffling, hand wringing, *** scratching and etc) going back to the scissors lift. I emailed these guys early this morning for their "special" price. It is special all right.
Just need to work out the shipping...
Cheers!

OK guys, New Update
Did a little research on American Automotive Equipment....no service and no follow through. It a 2 man outfit. It's a roll the dice and they wanted $395 for shipping.
So...here is the deal from Best Buy Auto $1,195 for the Direct Lift Pro-6MR Scissors Lift. Shipping is (for me to Seattle) about $190. They are coming out of the LA area...Temequla. The shipping would be about $140 to Scotts shipping dock but then we have to handle them and drive around to everybody place. The $190 is a lift gate at my house.

I did a little Google search and they seem OK...they have no complaints and seem like a large company with multple warehouses.
Talk to Anthony...
So I am going to order mine!
Cheers!

Some first hand info on the Direct lift. I've had it for about 1 year now and use it frequently. I did some reeserch whenI was looking at scissor lifts and this one was the best priced form the group. My only initial concern was one of quality but after 1 year with it I am very satisfied.
Two items to consider.
1.You wil need to build ramps for even a stock height 993.
2. the first safety cog supports the car about 2 ft of the ground asw measured the from door sill. I dont like the car that high off the ground so I use 4 jack stands (1.5 ft high) under the lifts points and under the lift to support the car while lifted.
By the way, I paid about $1200 canadian picked up at the Toronto warehouse last year so the current cost is fair.
hope this helps a bit

i have the same question as 993 coupe.
pg993, are you saying that 2 ft is the minimum that you can raise the car before a locking engagement occurs?
i live ~ 20 miles from Temecula, so this sounds quite interesting.
Bruce, thanks for doing all the research.
cheers

Yes. it is about 2 ft high when the first locking mechanism hits.
I have not tried it but others have dropped the tranny with a scissor lift.

Lift arrived without any issues and I have used it on the BMW 540i. Tomorrow I will have my wifes SL500 up in the air and will post a few pics.
The "don't let your car fall on you thread got me thinking to resurect this one.
