Does anyone know definitively whether the 964 and 993 front trunk carpets are the same?

 

No, they are different though probably interchangable. 964s have a snap closure on the center pocket. Note also that 96 and up carpet is grey. 964 and 95 993 carpet is black.

 

Joe, someone else mentioned that color difference. My '95 has a light gray (marble) carpet and I'd like to get black. Do I understand correctly that black carpet was not available at all on '96+ cars and only one color was available?

Also, someone mentioned that "The 993 carpet is grey and clips in the front. The 964 is black and is with ***** in the front...". Does anyone have a picture of either? Mine's an early '95 and I'm a bit confused as to what it has on the front.

 

My early '95 (6/94) has black carpet and the front is affixed with turn-*****.

I've never seen marble grey carpet in the trunk of a 993. The grey carpet that came in the later cars was more of a medium grey (when I deleted my CD Changer I updated to the later grey carpet sans cutoff for the changer).

It shouldn't be too hard to find a carpet from a 95.

 

I was offered a black carpet from a 964 and it appears that it's a better match to an early 993, actually, based on teh info I've gathered so far?

 

The 964 front carpets have snaps all around.

Interesting. Probably phased the grey car in as they did with the rear window third brake light. I wonder if the black carpet is still available or if the grey carpet superceeded the black.

 

Black 993 carpet is NLA.

 

Makes sense. Porsche probably phased in the grey carpet as its stock of black diminished.

 

The seller just emailed me some pics - the front of 964 carpet has velcro snaps instead of turn *****. I assume it'll be easy to put in turn kobs from my old carpet?
